Hot glue will keep them up - That and no more nails. You may want something a bit more flexible as once its up and you change your mind, it may take some of that ceiling with it. Something to consider lol.
I own this A within the first use the metal stand broke - apart from that it does what it says on the tin
As a long long term user of hot glue guns I've found them very job specifc and not a "cure all" for fixing jobs. Just this week I've thrown out one because the hot melted glue had leaked inside the body rendering it useless! This is a common problem so regard them as disposable and don't spend a lot on them.

On mine, the stand is a ridiculously flimsy plastic job (this looks the same).

If the home bargains one was dual temp, that really is a bargain
would you be able to use this to (repair) add shingle to missing pebble dashing on an exterior wall,

The Loctite glue gun is good, I've never had an issue with it and I class it as essential for family life, its ace for fixing kids toys.
