Star Ocean: The Last Hope - International is the enhanced PlayStation 3 version of 'Star Ocean: The Last Hope', which previously released on Xbox 360. A prequel in the acclaimed Star Ocean series, this latest entry offers spectacular visuals alongside exhilarating real-time battles in an epic sci-fi adventure.

* In addition to English and Japanese voice options, the PlayStation 3 version will include English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese language options for Star Ocean fans around the world.
* Combines sci-fi and fantasy elements, spanning multiple planets and the vastness of space itself to recount the origins of the Star Ocean universe.
* Exhilarating combat expands upon the franchise's dynamic real-time battle system, now featuring amazing graphics and visual effects only possible on PlayStation 3.
* Up to four characters can take part in battles simultaneously and party members can be switched mid-battle.
* New Blindside battle system fuses evasion and offense, enabling players to confuse and ambush enemies by quickly moving out of their line of sight when targeted - allowing stunning counterattacks and visual effects.
* Freely pilot the Calnus spaceship for the first time in the series and journey to various planets of the Star Ocean universe at your choosing.
* Item Creation and Private Actions, two hallmarks of the Star Ocean franchise, also make their return, allowing for players to enjoy upgraded versions of both systems.
* Breathtaking CG movies by Visual Works, the cutting-edge studio whose previous work includes cut-scenes for the acclaimed Final Fantasy series.

so disappointed with this game, played a bit on release but wasnt enough of a push to buy it, will wait for it to do an eternal sonata and drop to below £10 new before a purchase i reckon.

Played the 360 version - the camera is woeful and the save system is just plain annoying - be prepared to lose an hours progress when you lose fight number 55, as you haven't passed a save point.

Consider Valkyria Chronicles, then Resonance of Fate, then Final Fantasy 13 then Disgaea 3 before this. I wish they'd release the Tales of Vesperia SE on PS3.

iv got valkyria chronicles and disgaea 3 but not played them yet.

tales of vesperia i racked up 20+ hours on the 360 but i also am waiting for the ps3 version with the full voiceover/talking (which is shameful it wasn't in the 360 version, just bits of dialogue here and there and LOTS of blue box reading to be had, reminded me of the ps1 final fantasy days)

I'd bump it above both FF (terribly overrated, terrible plot, characters and a lack of anything other than grinding or cutscenes) and D3, unless you're all for SRPGs (I disliked the lack of plot in Disgaea), haven't played resonance of fate or valkyria so can't comment on them.

I found SO really enjoyable until I stopped playing my 360, may pick up the ps3 version when it comes down, in no rush though.
The character designs are pretty naff, English dub is terrible to listen to as well, but I enjoyed the battle system, the plot was intriguing too, a really nice mix of sci fi and medieval style, and lots to do with creation and all that, either way good game.

I believe that one of the advantages of the "International" PS3 version is that it allows you to play with the much better Japanese voices & English subtitles, unlike the earlier 360 version which only has the bad dubbing (there are other improvements as well). However, the 360 version is currently in my local Sainsburys for £9.99... Slightly torn!

You've got to play it for 50 hours, what's 7.99 for a much better experience in all the cutscenes you'll have to endure?

Hmmm? FF13 "a much better experience"?
We may have played different games.
