Star Trek (2009) Movie On 4GB USB Stick 7.99

I have no interest in the film William Shatner is Captain Kirk.

Thought this was quite cheap even if you just use the stick and wipe the film, like I plan to do.

Go on, be a devil. Watch the film
before you wipe it. You might
enjoy it. Apparently it is very good.
Was this around £12.99 a couple
of weeks ago.
Good deal. Voted hot.

Bit of a strange question but would this play on a TV with USB slot?

Not sure if this is classed as DVD etc. or electronics for CashBack, but you can get a bit more back in either case:
Quidco 4% DVD / 0.5% Electronics
TopCashBack 8% DVD / 2% Electronics

Excellent film....would highly recommend it

I cannot bring myself to do it

as Bill said in The Enemy Within "I'm Captain Kirk"

Plus from what I have read it is aimed a bit lower than the original.

Download to your PC.
There is then an option to burn it to DVD and a
five device licence. Can't go wrong really.
Uncle Mort (The old git shown on the left) might even
like it!

I'm a fan of star trek, and I liked the film. It was very well done and had a good story. Some love it, some loathe it. But you are missing out not watching it.

I assume you have looked at the shape of the stick:whistling:

be wary this is drm copy protected and useless as a usb pen due to its weight would have to be used with supplied extention cable

depends on your t.v. my brotheres samsung has a usb port, but it only does photos and mp3. some do photos only, there a some t.vs that play divx, then again who knows what format the movie is in.:)

its in drm divx, plays only on certified divx players

Just had this delivered after seeing it on play and assuming it would be plastic but it seems to be made of solid lead!!! I would not recommend it at all... it weighs an absolute ton. Will look nice on the shelf but that is about it. BTW film is not on the stick but it comes with a code to download it!

If you want a USB stick dont get this but if you want a Star Trek momento then do!

Don't forget this is Kirk right at the start, so just try to think of it as "young shatner" who then becomes "old shatner" even though they look nothing alike heh

You should complain then..........Film supplied on a 4GB USB stick, of which about 1GB is taken up by the film.

William Shatner is not in this film - it's definitely worth watching. You can always purchase the USB pen drive and sell it to a trekky [my boss] and make a fortune :-)

I have a Samsung 37" B550 which has USB, out of the box it should only do photos and MP3 but with some fiddling in the service menu you can enable movie playback. It plays MKV, DIVX and AVI no problem at all from a memory stick or HDD. I don't use it for that as I have a WD TV Live but I knew it could do it so I just had to enable it.

Perhaps worth pointing out that the shape of the USB stick means it's a touch on the impractical side. I did think of getting the Transformers one for £9.99, then I realised it would block the USB ports surrounding the one I plugged it into.

*Mr boring but sensible*

The DRM's a pain in the anus too.

On the plus side, it's quite distiguishable from your other USB sticks :D.

What sort of DRM is on this?

I bit the bullet, watched the movie and was sold on it. Brilliant, despite my reservations.

If someone gave me one of these USB sticks I'd love it. I'd glue it to a badly-fitted nylon crew-necked shirt and pretend to talk to the captain on the bridge. But then I'm sad, that way! :giggle:

Well an alternate universe version anyway, the whole timeline will be different, which should make for some interesting follow up movies.

The DVD alone costs £4.99, so paying £3 for a 4Gb memory stick which will protect your data due to the fact its metal is definitely worth it! Just too awesome for words...

You have to download a codec for the film so in theory if your TV is one of the fancy new ones with a web browser then yes, otherwise you need to either use a PS3 or a PC/Laptop (BTW this won't work on a X-Box 360)

thedraper;8240682

BTW film is not on the stick but it comes with a code to download it!

You are mistaken the film is on the stick but you have to get the codec online.

You also need to register on the Divx website.

I was luck enough to get this and Transformers 2 for free and although ok, I would buy the DVD over this any day. I also had a few issues with the playback jumping as it struggled to stream fast enough from the stick so I would recommend copying the file to your PC first.

Like its been said above nice keep sake but not really practical.

It's all about the blu-ray.
But £8 for the insignia USB stick is worth it.

Okay chappies,
Got two of these just before christmas when they were on offer for a tenner each. Got one to keep as a souvenir/collectable and one to watch the movie with and use as a usb stick.

Good points - it's very well made, weighs a ton and does have high kudos amongst the trekkers. It's a very good movie in terms of getting, and adding to, the flavour of the original series and films - the story is a bit pants but does set up the franchise for the future well. The movie eventually plays well on a PC but...

Bad points - the DRM is a total pain in the backside. I mean a REAL pain. It should allow you copy the film onto a DVD that then can be played on a divx compatable player on your TV. Every time I tried to do this the code reset to a different one - you only have five tries before you're done. I spent hours trying to get to the bottom of this. The Divx people say it's Denon who are at fault, Denon say the opposite. A real waste and ironically I got the DVD for a fiver because I gave in trying to figure out what was wrong.

Get it, cos 7.99 for a 4GB ain't bad, especially when it's so unusual and the movie will play on your PC, but you may have a fight on your hands in terms of burning it to a burnable DVD.

OH - and just thought. There is an expiry date on these things when you MUST register the movie otherwise it won't play - you can play it after this date, just register before then. The date on my sticks is 31st December 2009. May be worth checking with play just when the date is for this batch!

illogical :-D

How is the quality on this if the memory stick is only a 4GB?

even if you just use the stick and wipe the film, like I plan to do

A highly logical plan.

If anyone can explain to me Nero's motivation for going after Spock for erm... trying to save his home planet, I'll turn in my pointed ears.

Spoiler alert

slightly irrational but Nero is Romulan and so rather ruled by his emotions
anyhoo Spock's plan failed and Nero wife and family? i think - died
and he holds Spock responsible - common Spock you never failed the feds!!

fair summary, those dammed romulans

Just ordered for the missus - got the film already but a USB key that shape will bring me many brownie points

Ordered!!

Just received mine this morning, and not very impressed with the key itself! Considering it's sealed, its got marks and fades all over it! But not sure if I can be bothered waiting weeks for a new one!

Edit: Turns out a bit of polish got it off! And would kinda expect HD video on these things considering it's 4GB in size and DivX, but good enough for me anyway!

Trying to get the ****ing thing to play the film is bad enough :viking:

The build quality is excellent!!!
