My personal favourite of all the Trek series. Perhaps not everyone's cup of Earl Grey Hot because of all the (sometimes lengthy) storylines involving religion, politics and war, but I reckon if you stay with the series, stories and characters then they will stay with you. Cheapest standard price I can recall seeing for it recently.

The marketing bit:
After the death of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in 1991, writers/producers Rick Berman and Michael Piller carried on the Star Trek franchise with the second spinoff television series, Deep Space Nine. Considered by many to be the best of the Star Trek spinoffs, Deep Space Nine broke with its predecessors' peripatetic tradition by centering the action in a single location--a space station orbiting the war-torn planet of Bajor--thus allowing for a non-episodic story arc and sophisticated character development. The series also broke new ground with Star Trek's first African-American ship commander, Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks), who presided over a diverse group of crew members that included an alien shapeshifter, Odo (Rene Auberjonois), among its numbers. Dark, imaginative, and compelling, Deep Space Nine is presented in its entirety with this seven-series collection.

I did enjoy the series but preferred Babylon 5 in terms of long story arc.

Read a couple of complaints about the packaging & lack of "bonus extras", but hot from me as this is a very good price for around 49 DVDs... I would put the series a close second to Babylon 5.

Watching this from start to finish at the moment on netlix. On series 5 now. It's a good series but I do prefer Voyager.

Do you guys think its worth buying these? Or waiting for a future potential Blu ray release like they're doing with The Next Generation?

Totally agree. I thought DS9 was good but for continuity it has to be B5.

If you have an upscaling DVD in my opinion it is hard to tell. Save your money and buy standard sets if so. Bluray is great, there is no denying that, but how can you improve what was recorded in standard format and put on an expensive Bluray disc that an upscaling DVD player cannot do? Less discs perhaps but I stand to be corrected. my opinion only.

Heat for posting op.

Just ordered thanks OP!

Yep, got permission from the wife & have ordered this set. ( Though probably may have thought twice if I actually owned a Blu ray player ). Don't think you can go wrong at this price, the same set seems to go for more second hand.
Thanks OP

Ordered on Friday, with free Super Saver Delivery, Delivered following Monday afternoon. Well pleased... Though word of warning there are only 48 discs in the set they sent me, not the currently advertised 49, so all the episodes but no bonus disk. (Does not bother me.)
Thanks again OP... Now if I could find a set of Stargate Atlantis for a similar price, I would be really happy.

Just got mine, well pleased but a word of warning; a person on amazon reported that the sleeves scratch the discs, I can confirm this, I'll be putting mine in a fabric dvd holder

Stevio Mate, the bonus content is on the last disc of each season, you (we) should have quite a lot of it.

Good idea about the fabric dvd holder. But was still expecting a 49 disc set as advertised
Found the tech specs of the 49 disc set online..
The Full Journey, The region 2 only DVD box set is essentially a repackaging of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The Complete Collection, the previously marketed complete box set edition, but includes an extra disc containing additional extra features.
Am still well pleased with what I have for the money, & have dropped Amazon a line to update their description.
