Well, after buying this myself about three weeks ago for £4 more and thinking that was good, I think this is another new lower for this set! I know that some people aren't keen on buying from Zavvi, but in my experience they're fine for in-stock items.

We can of course hope for a Blu-Ray set at some point, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of that for now, so this is the closest that we can get to a 'definitive' set.

Blurb from the listing:
------
STAR TREK VOYAGER details the adventures of the Starfleet's most adventurous starship, the U.S.S. Voyager, as it is led by Captain Kathryn Janeway (Mulgrew) on missions into deep space. Faced with a 70-year voyage to Earth, the crew must avoid conflict and defeat challenges on its long and perilous journey home. Like Deep Space Nine, early seasons of Voyager feature greater conflict between its crew than is seen in earlier shows, as a large contingent of the crew is made of up of Maquis fugitives forced by circumstance to cooperate with Starfleet, which is probably like the uneasy truce between the Federation and the Cardassians as shown in The Next Generation.

Fantastic price for some classic Trek! Shame the packaging is so naff. (Two huge plastic boxes containing three series each, and swing trays that fall out, plus one mismatched series 7 boxset).

What with this and SG:U 1&2 being £13.49 (Amazon) fans of "ships lost in space" will be well served.

Was looking to buy a few star trek sets but noticed they are all on Netflix. TOS, TNG, Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise!

Won't get a true blu Ray release as the series was recorded digitally rather than on film so they can't upscale it with current tech

not sure about the TNG comment about the Cardassians.

Im a doctor, not a counter insurgent!

I am only going to say this once, coffee. Black.

The worst of all the Star Trek series by a huge margin. Crap actors, bad characters, dreadful stories

Voyager was shot on 35mm film the same as The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, the first three series of Enterprise were also shot on 35mm while the last one was digital. They could remaster it in HD but the main difficulty is that DS9 and VOY both used CG ships much more extensively and they'd have to be built and rendered from scratch, it's technically possible but it's likely unfeasible for the number of sales they'd get back.

Still, I've always hoped they'd remaster a few of the best episodes from each series instead but that's not happening either.

Sad to say I don't buy dvd's anymore, it's really only a matter of time till these are released on Blu-ray in some form given it's only getting cheaper and if they don't it will die off, if they make it ready for Netflix, iTunes etc, it would be ready for Blu-ray in some form, the problem is the longer they wait the less return they will get.
With the release of 4k and 4k TV's selling btr and btr Blu-ray is turning into the dvd soon we will see Blu-ray for £5 a common place, 4k media taking the place & price of Blu-ray, and dvd's relegated even further down the chain heading the way of vhs, which is the way it should be and the way it's always been in order to improve, many said that some things would not be transferred from vhs to dvd, they were wrong, then they said the same on dvd to Blu-ray and to date were not quite there with everything but we do have a massive amount on Blu-ray, lots never thought we would see the likes of -

- X-files
- Sopranos
- TNG
- The wire
- The old bond movies looking that gd
- House

Etc. etc. now don't get me wrong some old stuff have bad transfers like the early harry potter films released in the early days and have not been redone, but now 4k is here Blu-ray prices will drop as will transfer costs and we will see an influx of new stuff coming to Blu-ray this year, it has been this way since the vhs days, and I can't wait to see what's to come.

so are we saying get this on DVD or will it be coming out on Blu-ray?

If DS9 or Voyager did get high definition masters it would be syndication and streaming sales that would be the impetus, catalogue TV doesn't really sell enough on Blu-ray to ever justify the costs to create new masters as they're expensive to physically produce and sell in small numbers. The Next Generation was mastered for syndication and streaming, the BDs were just gravy on top (they turned out to be rather thin gravy for CBS).

Hopefully we will get Voyager and DS9 in HD, even if they upscale the effects it will be a huge improvement. They do need to do it sooner rather than later the Trek expertise that did TNG so beautifully won't be available for ever.

7 of 9 for me

An under rated series, although it is a bit annoying that the 2 women and the doctor heavily dominate the stories, instead of being ensemble pieces like all the other ST franchises

A problem for me is these and other star trek were 4:3

There's no sign of a Blu-Ray release for the foreseeable future. The possibility is still there (see discussion above), but it's seeming ever more unlikely. Personally, I caved and bought this set a couple of weeks ago; if it does come out on Blu-Ray at some point, I can always rebuy, and sell this.

Now I just need to find a similarly-priced offer on the DS9 set...

Each to his own of course, but to me thats like saying Stallone's "Get Carter" is better than Michael Caine's !!!

It was shot on film the same as TNG but those blurays ended up selling poorly so there won't be anymore investments in HDing Voyage or DS9.
