still pay to win or grind your life away!
I was desperate to buy this game as I love Star Wars, but I can't bring myself to bite. I'm a firm believer that of you pay full price for a game then you should get the whole game. I reluctantly buy DLC for COD and a few others, mainly for my son, but EA have overstepped the Mark this time. I can't believe that you're basically penalised for not spending a hefty amount of money to make you progress. This kind of greed is detrimental to gaming and I for one will unfortunately have to give this one a miss. Shame on you EA, you are one of the pioneers of gaming, how could you stoop so low?
The campaign is good. The multiplayer is a disappointment. It looks and sounds spectacular, but once you get over that you're left with the reality...if you enjoyed the bottlenecks of Operation Locker in Battlefield 4 then you will definitely feel right at home playing the main multiplayer modes 'Galactic Assault' or 'Strikes' in Battlefront 2. It's the dubious joy of one choke-point after another. You finally get enough points to use a hero (if you've unlocked any decent ones) and then the match ends or someone else already has taken the character you own so you have to wait and the match probably ends just as you do get your Maul out....or your hero has really weak abilities and gets owned because you haven't got your credit card out and payed real money to unlock 'the good stuff'. There are just 4 multiplayer modes. They saw fit to remove any of the ones you most likely enjoyed from the DICE's first Battlefront game. (Drop pod, cargo, extraction...all gone and I never thought I'd miss Hero Hunt).

Battlefront 1 was a fractured experience due to the player base being separated due to the season pass. They get rid of the season pass for this one, massively pair down the game modes and introduce loot crates and establish pay to win or grind to progress. I've been reluctant to admit that I wasted my money on this game, being a Star Wars fan and all, but having bought the Trooper Deluxe edition and played well over 10 hours of multiplayer, I can say with certainty that as it stands the game is a massive let down. I definitely enjoyed the first one more and that had massive flaws as we know. If you must buy this then definitely buy the disc version, play the campaign (it's worthwhile and fairly short), try the multiplayer for the experience, play a bit of split screen arcade then sell it on FAST to recoup some money back while it's still actually worth something, would be my advice.

It's games like this that are systematicly killing multiplayer …It's games like this that are systematicly killing multiplayer experiences, vote with your wallets, and avoid buying no matter how cheap it is

When they devalue the game so much by putting such a huge paywall onto it they make the whole game worthless, which matches the free2play and pay to win model they have included with this game, in a year they might actually release the other 80% of this game without the paywall

Do you mean you have to pay for DLC or that you can’t compete online in multiplayer without spending on extras? Just want to find out please before I decide to buy it
It's a hot deal given current price everywhere, but I just hate what EA has done with it. I think biting point for me is 20-25! That seems worth the single player itself which looks fun.

Wouldn't be in the least bit shocked to see it in the Vault for Ea access mid next year.
Also if you sign into the mobile app for the first time you will get £5 off
Really tempted to jump this but won’t be able to play til January; wonder if it will drop bellow this
Huge Paywall issues with the game, so I would say no support for EA on this one. Never in favor of Pay to Win. Sorry COLD.

This site is for voting deals and not company - I understand the hate for ea but poster doesn’t deserve the cold as this is the best price this game has ever been

you can do the bare minimum of things in the base game I don't have the exact details but everything unlockable has 9 months physical time of grinding i.e. 16 hours a day for 9 months is the amount of time needed for the complete game, or you can spend between $4000-5000 to buy the loot boxes needed to gamble and unlock everything, currently the money option is turned off but they promised it would return, they have not specified it changing at any point. I would research it a lot more before you think about wasting money on what is clearly a free to play game.

it's similar to games on Facebook where you spend large amounts of time grinding to get anywhere or spend large amounts of money to progress quicker, except instead of growing crops you pay £90 for a chance to unlock a character you want, with no gaurentees of anything, you could get 5000 loot boxes and get the same skin for a blaster every time. (the £90 was an arbitrary value I am sure when the pay to win returns there will be prices from £5 all the way up to the thousands all for the fun of gambling with loot boxes and a chance to win something that will make you stronger than the other people who have spent thousands of currency or hours to get guns with higher damage and notable characters who are heroes i.e. you'll lose most of the time to people who have vader unlocked.
I'm thinking given the film's release today, there may be a few places that discount this for the weekend.

Just a question of who does the most....

they actually promised the model would return.

Despite the furore I think the price is pretty decent. Though I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's £29.99 in January.
Don't bite yet people. Wait it out this thing is going to tank far further than it's current pricing
At the moment EA games are cold for any price

This should be £10 as you’ve still gotta pay for a complete game
P.S. I'll still vote hot for the price, even though it'll probably kill me.
It’s crap that EA have control over star wars now we’re never gonna get a good game again I loved the rouge squadron games on GameCube unlikely we’re gonna get a remake on them now at all ok every company is in it to make as much money as possible but EA is a joke greedy runt rockstar have done it right they’ve sold gta a complete game and then turn it one it’s head
Bought this on release day at full price and was worth every penny for me, completed it now but thoroughly enjoyed every second of it
Amazing and good in a n odd way that SW BF2 has brought the pay to win model into the public eyes and turned into such a rage - even on the proper news.

Did anyone go mental when Battlefield 3/4 introduced the pay to win items e.g shortcut pack for classes, vehicles etc - nope all went under the RADAR.

Heat added
All these trolls don't have a clue about the game. I played for just over 4 hours and earned 30000 credits. That's enough for 2 expensive hero unlocks. You need 90000 to unlock all hero cards. I unlocked the second weapon in 2 classes I played also.
So 16 hours for a average player, between 7 and 10k game score is not bad to unlock them.
Once hero's unlock crates are 4k credits each. As you still can't pay for crates everyone is in same boat ATM.
This games loot crate system is same as cod, except cod you unlock actual weapons to use in game, on this u earn them with kills and milestones. All u get from crates are starcards and emoted, which are random. Just like any other loot crate game
Companies have to learn the micro transactions are ruining games and putting folk off. Your already spending a lot on the game then having to spend even more to get further. Make a statement and wait till after the movie comes and goes and see where they sit in regards to micro transactions

So loot crates in games are ok as long as u don't need pay for them? I hate them

How would you know
Love star wars, and bought the first game. But I'm voting with my wallet, EA will never get another penny from me.

There's no place for loot boxes tied to progression in paid games, period.
Goddamit people - stop voting hot for this tite.
I don't understand how anybody can sit there and click hot on a video game that will quite literally cost you thousands of pounds to unlock all of the content.

You can't buy anything in the game. It might be implemented again but now weapons are earned. Hero's take about 16 hours to unlock all them, as an average player liKe myself.
I only want this for single player mode - do the pay-to-win issues affect single player or only multi-player?

Same. But as there in to many games now there probably here to stay. Wonder why all this didn't happen with cod, and it's faster lvling weapons. At least in bf2 u earn weapons, and it's only emotes and starcards in crates...

None, as you can't buy anything in the game ATM. And starcards arnt really that major as to be able to say they give a huge advantage.
Cold! no Lootboxes
The content should not affect the heat a deal gets, heck I dont like some of the stuff I buy, doesnt make it a bad deal. Nor does a £1 saving (can be bought for £33.99 at simply) make this deal a hotukdeal either.

Heat/Cold voting system really needs a revamp.

Well they finally dropped the price - although I went for simplygames as they were the first and its being dispatched today. Looks like Amazon PS4 isn't available for a couple of days - might be cutting it fine for Chrimbo !

When the game first launched Luke was 60000 credits to unlock. Fan outrage made them backtrack and lower the cost to unlock heros. But actually unlocking the heros is only a small part of the story. You will want your hero to be as effective in combat as possible and that is based on getting star cards to boost abilities. Ideally you'll want 3 'epic tier' star cards equipped and there are many players who have achieved this already. 'Get your credit card out!'. Vader with certain epic boosts is a nightmare in the enclosed maps...very op. Each star card has 4 tiers of rarity and although you can use crafting parts to unlock them to higher tiers, you can't do that as soon as you gain the card even if you do have enough crafting parts because upgrading the boost card is locked to your particular heroes level. I've played about 15 hours of mp as I've unlocked all the heroes, but I find their lack of star cards disturbing. I've used Maul as much as possible in Galactic Assault but mine has absolutely no star cards as yet despite me opening all the daily free loot crates. Out of the 3 slots my Mauly only has 1 card slot open...ready for when I'm lucky enough to get a boost card for Maul out of a loot crate. It's all about the loot!
