Thanks for posting bud.

For anybody without a Sainsburys nearby. It's also the same price at Morrisons, Toys R Us, ArgosANDSmyths (and I'd imagine soon to be Amazon, again).

If pre-owned isn't an issue. It's £20 at GamesCentre and apparently hotukdeals.com/dea…021 have some in their stores at the same price.

Don't worry I haven't posted those other identical deals myself.

How shocking. Took them long enough! Meanwhile hopefully enough people had their eyes and minds wide open and shopped somewhere other than a soulless unit shifter.

Speaking of having eyes and minds opened, you seemed to forget to thank me for taking the time to help you out and explain why GMG are not an authorised reseller. Or is my bouquet en route?

Again I've not seen any evidence, anywhere, to support your bizarre claims of them being "the best of the illegitimate sellers" - unless you count "you saying it"...which doesn't really count. However - this is a Sainsbury's deal on a physical product so looks a bit out of place here to be honest.

Thank you for adding that "to be honest" at the end. It explains a lot.

I'm sorry to hear that Google still isn't working in your area. Hopefully they'll get their problems sorted soon, as it's been... what? Two months now? Three? Anyway, you won't need them or Jeeves today! Here's a link to a link to a... well, you'll see!

To be fair. I don't personally think Greenman Gaming are 'illegitimate sellers'. In fact I'd say they were far from it. It was interesting though how the link you produced mentioned the issues with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from last year, which is what I fully expected to see. This is where all kafuffle seems to have stemmed from. CD Projeckt Red and GMG had a bit of an issue. CDPR stated that "the keys came from an "unknown source," and recommended that fans not buy the game from GMG, despite the lower price." and to purchase from elsewhere.

It was evident a little argument regarding cash from CDPRs point of view had occured. Going back and thinking of the price Greenman Gaming were distributing those keys for leads me to believe they weren't purchased on the cheap. To be honest, I don't even think the issue would have seen the light of day had /r/GameDeals picked up on it and made a mountain out of a molehill.

I mean how many illegitimate sellers do you see that become official partners of Nintendo?

Actually, if you remember, the issue was widely reported on many websites, as CD Projekt Red made a general statement about GMG. /r/GameDeals were just one of many places to mention it and issue a warning, but they certainly weren't the first (although to be fair, I read a few different tech and gaming websites, not just deal sites). They also didn't remove GMG from their approved list based on that one incident, if you recall..?

It was with the Activision (Black Ops 3, remember?) problems that /r/GameDeals finally removed GMG, several months later, as those keys were hit and miss as to their region, extra content, and validity. Coupled with those statements from Activision and Ubisoft that GMG were not an authorised reseller, and... well, that's three companies, Activision, Ubisoft and CDPR, all warning against using GMG. (I'm sorry, was all that not in that one article I linked that had happened to be at the top of a Google search? I didn't want to overwhelm poor Elevation, as all this stuff is easily Googleable and - I thought, although perhaps I'm wrong, as I've now found three people who didn't know this - common knowledge for gamers.)

Like you suggest, these situations are fluid. Maybe GMG will sign new contracts and be authorised partners for those companies again in future. Or maybe this is a shift away from having authorised status as they find their margins are greater flogging dodgy keys.

But knowing that CDPR, Activision and Ubisoft have warned against using GMG, and knowing that GMG have been caught selling problematic keys in the past - it's just useful information to have in order to make an informed decision about using them or not.

It's bizarre how Elevation has been trying to cover this up, though. Of course, not everyone wants to know how the hot dogs are made.
