These lightsabers are fairly cheap at the moment, usually £99+ (I believe these are Master replica ones, not the £39.99 Hasbro ones as Stolendiagram suggests)
Only Darth Vader's is reduced this much, so if you want one I'd get in quick!
This is an official reproduction of Darth Vader's lightsaber from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

The glowing, bright red blade ignites with realistic power-up and power-down light effects.Even cooler is the authentic lightsaber sound effects digitally recorded from the movie. Features four motion sensor controlled sound effects: power-up, idle hum, clash, and power-down.

With a durable metal hilt, it looks and feels like a real lightsaber. Sturdy blade is permanently attached to the hilt. This special lightsaber comes with a custom-designed display stand.

Wouldn't buy at this price. It's the hasbro reproduction and they're quite rubbish in comparison to the Master Replica ones which are sadly no longer sold.

Wait until it drops below £40 which the MR ones did about 2 years ago.

Personally I think you are mixing the two up, one is 'force fx' (MR) the other is 'ultimate fx' Hasbro - they ONLY make £39.99 ones.
As you say Master Replica (like mine) aren't making them any more but that doesn't mean these aren't old stock, if you want one, this is it.... as for hanging around for 2 years waiting for them to drop to £40 I sincerely doubt they ever will again as they are very collectable now, so not really very helpful now if wanting for Christmas/investment.
They are £99+ so far as I can see anywhere else.

A short vidieo of what it's like (2008) Youtube

The one shown above from Play's site looks exactly the same as mine, it's even on the same stand - and mine is definately Master Replica's.

wow...I got my one of these for £39.99 back in feb 2008...cant believe the price of them now...mental...i actually bought the entire collection available then as well.....so if I ever need a bit of cash they will be a good one to sell...never even been taken out of the boxes

Obviously if you must have one in time for Christmas then it probably is the best price for it. However, just because a price happens to be the cheapest for a particular item does not make it a deal. It is still probably too expensive for what it is.

Also, that's a stock photo they're using. The MRs are no longer being sold new at retail since losing the rights to Hasbro.

I got 3 MR ones when they were going on play.com for £25 each a few years ago!

Only ever opened 1 of them. How much are they worth now?

Genuine question, where does it say made by Hasbro on Plays's site, I just can't see it - the funny thing is When I search Hasbro lightsaber a £39.99 one comes up, are you sure you aren't confusing the two? Amazon still sell what looks EXACTLY the same one for £149.99.

OK, just got off the phone with Play, he cannot confirm the maker - very useful! lol However he did say the product you will recieve WILL be the same as the one shown in the photo's.
If it is Master Replica's (which I believe it is) then it is cheap, as these are very collectable now.
Like I say the hasbro ones are £39.99 which are these LINK

Well, at least £100, if not more - and I really think these are Master replica ones, the Hasbro ones are called 'ultimate fx' the ones at play are advertised as 'force fx' which is the same as my MR one.

Daughter got a Master replica construction kit when she was 6 with her birthday money (wife got her a doll that she never played with) ..the lightsaber is regularly used to hack folk to bits.
might be worth looking around toys r us dusty back lw shelves we picked ours up for around £25 / £30 as I recall, it's the set that has multiple nurls etc,
not bad, wish we had a stand for it though.

Hiya Gus! I got my master replica one for £25 too, but I seriously doubt one would ever drop that low again....unfortunately. Wish I'd bought the set now!
Can I just ask, all the guys saying they have the Master replica ones, does the photo on Play (as above) match yours too?

It's a Master Replica's Force FX Lightsaber. Not a plastic Hasbro one.
Trust me, I'm a Jedi.

my husband & son collect these and at this price they are a bargain! they are made by MR not Hasbro, excellent quality, looks excellent when lit up in a dark room,
we paid well over this price last year for 2, hubby has tons of star wars MR stuff, its all insured on the household policy as some items have trebled in value! yoda & Darth Vaders sabers in the glass cases are now worth over £2000 , i had no idea! my insurance company told us when we renewed, double checked it with a few other collectors who are registered MR sellers aswell, so if you have one keeps all the packing!

Thanks, may be worth mentioning the cheapest one of these new on ebay BIN is £90 delivered, most are a lot more, look at this as an investment - they will not be released again after stocks run out and will probably only go up in price.
I think most of the cold votes on this think it's a toy for kids or a £40 Hasbro one thanks to StolenDiagram's first post, but it's more of a collectors item now.

I can confirm they are hasbro signature editions. When master replicas lost their star wars license it was split up and the fx lightsabers went to hasbro. They are essentially the same (maybe updated internals) as the master replicas of old. Hasbro also do the ultimate fx range which is a plastic, shorter version, but more for the toy market.

Hope that helps. This one would definitely be the hasbro signature one, like the old MR.

And you can trust me as I'm a ninja Jedi master! Plus, I used to trade in this kind of thing and still collect!

I also bought the MR lightsabres 3 years ago and sold my last one on Amazon (luke skywalker) for £299 2 months ago. This one (Darth Vader) went for about £189. In all I amde about £500 from the 3. If these are the MR sabres I'd pile in and go for at least 3!!!

somebody please buy one and confirm!!!!

I'm not an expert on these but have a vast colelction myself.
"Sturdy blade is permanently attached to the hilt" indicates it's not the 2010 model with a removable blade.

Therefore a 2007 Master Replica's with 30th Anniv. logo and MR 5th logo or maybe a 2005. Infact, I think it's a 2005 ESB by MR.

Trust me, I'm an uber1337 jedi mastero0nie with a purple hat and sparkly socks and such.

**** it ..... just went for 5. Least that will happen is I can get my money back!!!

I've got the 2007 model.

If anyone gets one do you mind posting up the maker please. I'm super curious now!

They are awesome aren't they. Don't leave batteries in them tho, my Luke esb had a leak!

Yoda's is still the nicest for twirling around, I took out a lightbulb with it...lol

Yup, I moved on from Sabers though and I'm now building/re-building/modding full size replica helmets.

Got anything to show off? Do you sell and trade them or is this purely for your own enjoyment?

Yes, please do! would like to see them.

Just as a hobby, I don't sell anything I make. I don't aim for super accuracy either.
This is a re-build of a seriously damaged ST helmet, modeled on the "move along" helmet.

That looks to be the fella indeed goose! ..i'm not the expert, but pretty familiar (leap of faith)

I checked the 8 customer reviews below this lightsaber on Play.com, and a few specifically refer to this as a Master Replica lightsaber. The most helpful review gives a fairly detailed description for anyone still not sure, and refers to this as the ESB Master Replica.

Just been under our spare bed and opened the boxes to see what sabers I had. Yep. Three Master Replicas that were £25 each. Unbelievable really when you think about it!

I have 2 master replicas still sealed in the boxes, forgot all about them lol
