All of the recent star wars dvds contain these, they shoot the movie, but only do the full cgi effects for the scenes that are definately gonna be in the movie, (saving time and money)
The scenes that just missed being in the movie are normally half finished and are then cgi'd up for release on the dvd which means they can say "Eight deleted scenes created just for this release"

hot deal btw!
