First time this has been cheaper than what I paid on release, if you exclude the BestBuy closing down sale.

Hot ish, but still £15-20 too high. Will need to be sub £40 before I bite

I agree - just bought the complete Harry Potter boxset for £32 on bluray and that contains 8 films including one released this year

£50 for this is still way too much

Agreed! Waiting for below £40

Original Poster

Agreed I'm also waiting for sub £40, but this is the cheapest Star Wars box set in the world at this moment in time

I think this is a great price, I'd bought it as a present so that's been returned and this has saved me some money Thanks OP

Il pay 30 odd because I only want the first 3 movies for collection sake haha

i'll wait for £30 and lower, if not £25.. a good price for the star wars fan

Bought for £35 from Best Buy and regretted - I'd forgotten how AWFUL Phantom Menace was... Stick with the original 3!

Will wait for this to come down to 20s.

Got this for £31 at launch, not a bad price I guess

Not sure I can agree with someone who benchmarks Star Wars against Harry Potter!

You sure that wasn't a trilogy - never seen the complete saga for that price.

Nope this set, Quidco tracked from Tesco three times and all three got paid even though I only ordered it once, then I sold the film cell foe £10

Both franchises aimed squarely at children, albeit Star Wars with the sole intent of merchandising.
Unless I'm horribly mistaken?

George Lucas was a smart man though. Each individual trilogy has no extras. He knew if he gave away the farm with Episodes IV-VI there'd be no way anyone would buy the UNholy trilogy of I-III

The first 3 are the only ones worth buying , the rest are utter trash .

4 decent films, and 2 shiny coasters for £50. Hot!

Got this free when i brought my bluray player which was £115. They had a deal where i sent off a copy of receipt and got it for nothing.

But hey £50 is good, all films are good with the first 3 excellent.

Just what I need, another version of the same stuff...... too expensive IMHO. needs to be 30 notes

Definitely not worth biting yet, unless you can not wait any longer or it's a present so voting hot on that basis

I was born in '67.
When Star Wars was released I was 10.
As a teenager I was hooked into the Star Wars mythology and wanted a Tie Fighter, X-Wing, AT-AT and, oh my, how I wanted a Milennium Falcon but my parents couldn't afford them.
When I was 19 I worked in a department store that did 10% off all toys, plus my staff discount of 10% and they had reduced all the Star Wars toys. Even though I was chastised by my colleagues, I had my Star Wars toys at last.
As I grew older I read Star Wars novels and really enjoyed the Timothy Zhan series set after Return of the Jedi.
I was still a Star Wars kid at heart.

And then ... good old George started fixing things that were not and never have been broken. The "Special Editions" were awful, the botched effects, seeing Jabba in IV, the ludicrous green screen garbage in Empire. I felt he was mucking around with something I loved.

I did queue up for 8 hours to get tickets for the first showings of the Phantom Menace and was excited when I saw the trailers. What a disapointment that turned out to be. The Clone Wars? Yawn fest. It's only on the Sith when (and I think I must be the only one to think this) Anakin becomes Vader and has the fight with Obi Wan that I felt there was a, albeit small, pay off.

So when it comes to the full series on Blu Ray, no thanks George, I've had enough. On a census form or anything else that asks for my religion I will always write "Jedi" but until I introduce my grand children to epsidoes IV, V and VI I'll chuck a Star Trek disc in the player.

The smallest note in circulation is the £5, so by my reckoning you'll buy it at £150.... Would you like mine for £140? free p&p
