Can't wait for this, not released until September though

Off topicish, but...

Am I the only one who is so sick of buying the same material on different formats again and again and again? Saw these films in the cinema when they came out (some more than once), then bought the VHS videos, then the DVDs. Now it is the Blurays, next the digital downloads and enhanced 3D. Whatever happened to fair use? Lucas is rich enough already. Sorry, I am not playing this game any longer. Judging by the trouble EMI and HMV are in, a lot of others feel as I do.

movies with nasty effects just look even worse on bluray.

i loved the original trilogy but they are going to look absolutely terrible on bluray.

I agree to a extent, but then we are growing up in a age when these things are developing.

VHS and DVD lasted a while and now it looks like Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray and digital downloads are taking over.

In my view all Blu-Ray discs should come with a digital copy, it would cut down on duplication of titles and with most of the population now owning some kind of smartphone, tablet they can play the digital copy on it will be worth it

Oops - I just posted the same deal. Sorry. (I wish the search facility on here worked better).

Heated though!

(Never mind - the thread I started has been deleted as spam anyway - must be due to the fact I uploaded a copy of the picture of the boxset I saved from Amazon).

I accidentally posted the same one too -sorry!

I aint paying that **** Lucas anymore money. Im going to download 1080p Blu-Ray rips when they are uploaded to newsgroups. Cold.

You can hardly call Lucas for 'ripping' people off yet again as a lot of films have and will be re-released on blu ray so why should the star wars movies be any different, I have a large dvd collection but will not be upgrading all my films to blu-ray with the exception of one or two i.e transformers, L.O.T.R extended editions and of course star wars

Empire was the best and it was the movie that Lucas has little involvement in. Now what does that tell you about Lucas.

just coz something is being released doesnt mean its a hot deal. £70 for 6 films isnt a good price.

Read an article saying there are rumours that the 3D releases are to fund a new trilogy! Or maybe thats just to get all the star wars nuts talking again

I worded the comments I made to take account of the close proximity of the other respective deal; literally seconds.

I did not say which was posted before the other but both deals do include one product that is described within the other.

The temperature on this deal is not as low as the other, but the comments in each deal listing can complement each other.

i get you now
still reads more 'been posted already' though rather than 'also interestingly posted prior to my own comment but not necessarily before the other thread' to me as usage of 'already' definitely says 'in the past'.
perhaps i am the only one that took it that way and i dont usually misinterperate your posts as i know you make an effort to enhance the clarity or them unlike my own ramblings

You were one of the first two; does that help?

In fact, I'll adopt that wording in future. Thanks.

(Better to list twice than not at all; & I am grateful for the information as I have placed an order)

Seriously, though, your thread has come off better in terms of not having as many negative comments as the other one at Amazon, & the subsequent deals for Play.com & Zavvi.

Again, my mistake, for using "you" in the third person. I was meaning I should have typed that previously... never mind; this is going to get more confusing if I continue.

We got there in the end. Thanks for taking the time to demonstration my inability to do two things concurrently today.

Why cold in here? That's a realy good price and I think it'll actually go up soon...

It isn't just 6 films, it's 9 discs including extra footage. The price will go up on this, £70 is a bargain.

Voted hot, I have pre-ordered.

Original Poster

I have also pre-ordered.

HMV quoted me £89.99 today in store.

I'm a big SW fan (Original of course) but there is no way I'm spending £70 on this. I will wait until sub £25 which I'm sure won't be long after release coz Bluray's seem to drop in price shortly after release (they have on everyhting else).

Were these films so terrible in the first place that Lucas felt the need to digitally re-master them? No they were not! They were a success and now Lucas is just making as much money as he can from the brand. He added unnecessary scenes to the original films, now he is going to blu-ray. What exactly will watching them on blu-ray add to the experience that makes paying 69.93 so worthwhile?

Money making exercise is all this is!
