Tell me about it! Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but I've yet to hear a coherent argument against this film! Personally thought it made some brave storytelling choices and wasn't afraid to put clear flaws in characters just because they were beloved by fans!

[Minor Spoilers] The whole space chase / Canto Bight sequence didn't work for me. Lukes motivations made sense to a degree, but Reys continued aptitude to the Force is still not explained and is beginning to get comical now. Maybe Episode IX will finally explain why she is so powerful.

Oh, and don't get me started on Carrie Poppins...

A book you say. Not the full novelisation, but a short kids-size paperback book.
A page-turner it is not...

Sums up the film, too
Watch this one drop in price....

Good price, but a dreadful film. Completely lost the plot and the heart of the original star wars trilogy. The force is definately not with this tripe.

The Canto Blight sequence is a little long, yes but it still adds that little bit of flavour to the Star Wars universe and gives us a kind on environment we've never seen before. Plus, it shows that the real hive of scum and villainy will always be the ultra rich. Also, why do people complain about Rey when Luke's aptitude with the force in the originals is equally flimsy? He went from simple farm boy to being the most important member of the resistance in about a week.

As for Carrie Poppins, you're really complaining that a sequence in a Star Wars movie looks silly?
I'm a big Star Wars fan and I loved this. Yeah it has it's faults but is one of the best SW films made if you ask me. The prequel trilogy is dire and even the originals aren't great movies, it's just the world of SW that we love.
I liked it ... but a big problem with Rey’s fight with the guards has been revealed. One of them she is fighting had a blade in his hand and gets into a position where he could stab Rey ... at this moment they CGI the blade out of his hand

"I've yet to hear a coherent argument against this film"

Unless you lived under a rock, offline, for the last 4 months, there has been plenty of "coherent" criticism floating around in every possible kind of media, chances are you just choose to ignore it because you liked the movie.
Stopped watching it after 20 mins. Complete trash. As a person who has read most of the books, comics and played some amazing games, Shadow of the Empire specifically, I cannot believe how badly this franchise has been treated.
First thing is, Lucas did not need to sell this franchise, and of all people Disney were the wrong ones to sell it to.
TFW and this garbage of a sequel underlines the lack of creativity in Hollywood.
Makes my blood boil. It could have been a legendary mythology stretching for generations. Hell, look how long it has been going!

The Legends universe is superior and as much as they will never admit it, these directors have massively taken inspirational liberties with it.

If you enjoyed the film, fair enough, but critically if you have been following this since the early 90s you will see where most of the fan anger stems from.
Imagine a Tolkien relative selling that creation to Disney and they put their own 'spin' on it..

You cannot seriously call yourself a big fan if you are comparing the films only? Read some of the books and even some of the Dark horse comics.
The prequels had some bad scripting but some excellent characters with depth. (Apart from Binks of course!)

The Anti Cheese edits of the prequels are all better than this film. This is THE order from good to bad

1. Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Rogue One
5. Revenge of the Sith
6. The Force Awakens
7. Phantom Menace
8. Attack of the Clones
9. Caravan of Courage
10. Battle for Endor
11. Holiday Special
12. The Last jedi
The film was shocking, everything built up in the previous one was just smashed to bits, ruined the franchise in my opinion unless they do a remake which I am sure will not happen, shame really
Thank god Disney are killing this trashy tripe.

How dare people express an opinion. Star Wars is pants in general though.
Voted cold as the Blu Ray is £15 so the title is a bit baity.
You guys all crease me up 😄 😄
You know every time a new Star Wars film arrives the weight of expectation is enormous. It was and always has been a film for kids... I was pleased that it shook things up, however I was really really bored by the film the jokes were pretty flat and had did not have the knowing sparkle that the Hans Solo Character brought to the original films. Like most others you get to the end and think but nothing really happened to move it on. Like transformers if people keep paying to watch them and buy them then Disney will keep making them....
You should include the 4K edition. That's a decent price as well.
Still haven't seen it! Came here just to dodge spoilers coz i'm feeling very dangerous today!!!
The de-feminized version is much better, and is free on youtube

They still ruin everyones childhood though....

I actually really enjoyed it
Picked up the 4K last night and grabbed the book

It's a junior book, but still handy to give away
I've read all the criticisms and they all boil down to about three things

1. The Casino Scene
2. SupercallifragiLeia
3. And this is the big one - it wan't the right story. Those evil manipulators at Disney didn't let me see the film I had in my head.

1 and 2 I can see the validity but the 3 is just nonsense whingeing of fan boys.

I enjoyed it and will be buying it (but probably not from Sainsbury the book is worthless)
title misleading as bluray is £15 not £10 not s good as the original trilogy but better than episode 1
bought the 3d version in asda best price i seen for the 3d copy too
It's Lucas's story and canon - he's entitled to do what he wants with it. HIS films.

I love anything Star Wars and was born in the 70s so it WAS/IS my life. Prequels had their faults, so do these new sequels - but so do the originals if u look with cynical old mens eyes. Ewoks? whingy Luke ALL the time? Force Ghosts?

Personally - I didn't mind it on 2nd and 3rd viewing. Fin is pointless, no lessons and Rey's lifting massive boulders and the obvious 'jokes' (pretending to be ON HOLD in a universe where phones don't exist?) - but Kylo is great, Luke and Leia meeting brought a tear to my old cynical mans eye...

Wind your necks in.

EDIT : before i'm rinsed by the 'i'm a bigger fan than you' briggade - Yes, i've read comics and alot of the novels - I, Jedi being a fav as well as the Thrawn series, Rogue Squadron, etc. Been to conventions for signatures, etc

Okay sorry

Depth!? The prequels had some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen and that made them so shallow

I honestly don’t get the hate of the last Jedi. Episode 7 was just a rehash of 4 and so they went ahead and did something different and everyone cried.

I think it deserves more credit that it’s got or getting.

lol I just remember watching Leia float in space and I thought ... what the f##k .....!!
Maybe there are a bunch of deleted scenes and an alternate ending that can be combined into a film worth watching...
When will this Star Wars epidemic finally die once and for all ?
Looking forward to the day i no longer see those two words, whereever i look!

Lets agree that some people like the new ones but I for one think they are terrible. I would like to engage in a debate and discuss about the expanded universe and the history, however, it’s been my observation that most people who like the Disney dung have not read or critically examined the wide variety of mediums that better stories and character creation was developed on. If you have then apologies in advance. If this was FB I'd have been flamed as a fan boy and recluse who lives in his mother's basement...
