Been interested in this for a while but since it hit my radar last year I’ve not seen it drop as low as the sub price here. I can definitely see this one going cold, for sure it’s “not for everybody” but hope it helps someone out

Currently £11.99 on Steam with “very positive” reviews.

DESCRIPTION

Starbound is an extraterrestrial sandbox adventure game! You’ve fled your home, only to find yourself lost in space with a damaged ship. Your only option is to beam down to the planet below and gather the resources you need to repair your ship and set off to explore the vast, infinite universe…

History

Starbound development began in mid-2011. In April 2013, we hosted a pre-order campaign for Starbound through our own website using Humble widgets. We received an overwhelming amount of support from our community, raising over $1,000,000 towards the game’s development in less than a month! In December 2013, Starbound entered Early Access on Steam. Within three months, we had sold over one million copies. As of February 2016, we’ve sold over two million copies! Since its Early Access launch, Starbound has sold at a steady pace and has popped up on the Steam Top Sellers list as well as the top ten most played games on the platform, with concurrent players peaking at 88,000 during launch and 40,000 after large content updates.

Features

Choose from one of 7 playable races and customize your character

Save the universe in a story campaign featuring unique characters, bosses, dungeons and quests!
You’re the captain of your very own starship! Decorate it, expand it and use it to explore a procedurally generated universe

Three game modes - Casual (no need to eat), Survival (eat to survive/drop items on death) and Hardcore (permadeath)

Craft thousands of objects - building materials, armor, weapons, furniture and more

Capture unique monsters to fight alongside you
All content is available in online drop-in/drop-out co-op
Built from the ground up to be easily moddable. You have the tools to make the universe your own - add new races, biomes, dungeons, and quests

Still awaiting a PS4 version. I think I'll still be waiting a long time. I'd get this but I'm a keyboard and mouse failure.

Same here, but I'd like it on Switch.

Have they even suggested they are creating a version for consoles? As the PC version doesnt even have support for controllers natively yet I'm pretty sure, think you can kind of do it through remapping.

Personally I couldn't see playing games like starbound or terraria without a keyboard and mouse, but I'm a failure with controllers so yeah

I’ve been in the same boat as you waiting for the PS4 version but that seems to be less and less likely as time goes by ... I only found out about this after the gf was obsessed with Stardew Valley. That along with this seem to be games that are/would be at home on consoles.

I love using keyboard and mouse for shooters and whatnot, but you’re right- the idea of just sitting back and relaxing with a game like this on a big tv just feels right. (And yes I guess I could do that with my Steam link but it’s not the same lol).

Originally, yes. However it’s all gone quiet and get the feeling it’s less and less likely now. But... I am still hoping!

Well they introduced pad support on PC for Terraria and that controls really well on Ps4 too.
Yeah, you can bind controls but I think it needs more work than that.

Fingers crossed that happens, I have Terraria on Steam and PS already but much like this, would be great on the Switch!
