Starbucks Gold Card Members - Free Drink and Merchandise

55
Found 30th Dec 2015
Received my free merchandise and drink notifications through the Starbucks App, the former being code 1018-FREE MERCHANDISE.

Simply present the rewards to the barista using the App. The most expensive tumbler is £14.95, so a nice additional reward for our custom throughout the year

My rewards are valid until the 11th Jan.

Update: No luck with the cafetière, but managed to get Frappuccino tumbler instead

Correct, only one drink per week

OP are you sure, spoke in store yesterday and they didn't know what this was, said there was free cup offer the cheap ones coming in early January but they weren't sure.

It only shows up for me on the old app. It is 100% true.

Wow that's awesome. Shame I don't earn that many stars!!

Used this today. Great deal!

Yep, offer is good. However, I did learn that an email has been sent to the store(s) to offer the plastic tumblers. The reward is good for a full-price metal (ceramic too?) tumbler. I'm returning later to see if I can wangle a cafetière. Watch this space...

got mine through this morning did not know a free tumbler so good post thanks

I only got the standard £1 one, rather than the £8 one. Still, free is free!

Tongue in cheek? Good guys because they decided they would voluntarily pay some corporation tax? Bless 'em, that is very kind of them!

£8 tumbler for me too

So can anyone confirm what the max price merchandise u can get?

One, we know it's not. Two, even though I'm in central London, not everyone is, so that's a stupid comment. Three, no one is going to Starbucks for the hot chocolate!

£15.95 was the RRP for my new Frappuccino tumbler (pictured in the original post). Many of the standard tumblers are already discounted from £12 to £8, hence why this is the common price being referenced. I tried to purchase the £22.95 cafetière, but that wouldn't go through the till using the reward.

The basis for that comment is what? I didn't suggest Starbucks were guilty of anything illegal, like tax evasion. I would suggest that they voluntarily agreed (in 2013) to "forgo certain deductions which would make us liable to pay £10m in corporation tax this year and a further £10m in 2014. We have now paid £5m and will pay the remaining £5m later this year...." If I have offended you or anyone else that works for Starbucks, or indeed the numerous tax avoidance specialist accountants, then I apologise for my ignorance about the taxation system

Only the £1 cups on offer

Don't settle for the £1 cup. The other tumblers and mugs are included too.

Finally worked out how to upload the picture... My Frappuccino Tumbler. Don't settle for the cheaper plastic tumblers!

I went to two of the Starbucks and they told me that I can only have the £1 cup. Not really pleased with them.

Went yesterday like OP and got a nice £7.00 one, probably before the company instruction went out. Thanks OP the early birds catch the worms again.

Please complain to @StarbucksUK on Twitter. If you have them ring up the item on the till and then enter the code 1018 (showing them the App), it will go through.

2 stores. 2 refusals

Brian do u have inside info? Or just a keen starbucks drinker?

Original Poster

Drink far too much of the stuff and am friendly with the baristas at local stores. Gold member already up to 2016 :-S I actually went through the items at the till decreasing in price to see what I could get. As you will see from others on this post (and on the @StarbucksUK feed), we are getting full-priced tumblers, but some people are being fobbed off with the cheaper version. #DoNotSettle

Brian, I'm the same as u. Massive starbucks fan, the coffee, the merchandise the lot! Half way to gold member again, but it was only renewed in nov :-/ Gonna go to the local starbucks tomoro, wish me luck ;-)

How comes Ur gold status is valid till jan 2016? Thought it was 12month rolling? (That's how mine seems to work)

Best of luck! Let me know how you get on... Double stars at the moment too (not sure if this is specific to certain customers, but have seen others reference it).

If you achieve a further 50 stars within your already extra year, it will extend again automatically. As I said, I drink (and spend) way too much with them - average of 2/3 per week :-S

Tips for Gold success... Buy drinks and food separately - each one is a star, but buying together gives you only one star. Those behind you in the queue may be slightly delayed, but the baristas know why you are doing this. Look out for double star periods - like now.

I was about 5 short of the extra 50, but will bear that in mind ;-)

Barista in Harrow was convinced this "1018 code" is for the free plastic reusable cup. He stated "you will have received a card in the post as well, it's the same offer. Can't use it for in-store merchandise"

Anyone else have this issue? I think he was trying to "mug" me off! Walked away with code, I'll try another store methinks!
