Heat. Not seen this in years, reviews seem ok for transfer. And a fiver isn't bad for a sci fi movie you can switch off too. Hoping Starship Troopers trilogy drop again soon

Welcome to the club.

Don't bother with this one as there is a new remastered version coming out early next year to replace this bad transfer, great price though & voted hot.

Agreed. I received the remastered version in the post yesterday and it's way better than this version. You can get the remastered version from various retailers in the US for about £15 or so.

£15 for same film but as I said it's the 15th anniversary remastered edition. The quality is way better and there's more extras. I also think you get the original film and the directors cut.

Great film, worth £5 even if transfer is not top-notch. Cheers for the post.

More extras yeah in 480p.

Seriously they are having a lend why bother with the 15th anniversary version when the 20th is only 5 years away:lol

If originally shot in high def go for it anything else transferred / manipulated being sold at a price higher than say £4.95 -£5.99 then forget it or hang on till it drops to that value.

Well imo and for me thats how I will do it but you can do what you like which is your right.

Up to you but as the review says, the transfer is much better.

thanks for the heads up  i was looking for this just the other week and it was at least double the price!

H&R added :-D

I like your logic, I will try telling that to my wife ;-)

this site is a bloody curse. I try not to spend my money, and then a deal like this rears its ugly head. damn you hot deals. Oh and thank you. Sizzling hot.

I think the review was comparing the original US Stargate release with the new US one

From memory of the reviews the current UK release is quite a bit better than the original US release, but I haven't seen any comparisons between the new US release and the current UK release

A new release is coming to the UK in Feb, but who knows how that will compare

I'm still undecided myself

You mean your Ex :lol

love this film

I think it stands to reason that if a new transfer is being released early next year then it'll be a lot better than this one, why would they do it otherwise...it's hardly on everyone's list of 'must haves' is it...and I do like it!

Does anyone have a comparison of the 15th and the current UK release?

Aren't the reviews comparing the inferior US release?

If only I had a blue ray player... voted hot!

I understand why companies are releasing poor quality blu's but I can't fathom it. What a stupid business practise when the format is threatened. Releasing in blu should mean they are releasing the best quality product. They just demean the format and will alienate consumers. I'll go for the cheap one as i dont have it on disc at all, it will look better than the dvd and they can whistle for the extra tenner.

so is this one better to buy? and from that website? I don't mid paying £15, its a gift so I would much rather get the best possible hard copy. It says region free, so I assume it is like DVD region free. Sorry I have not ever bought a BluRay. No problems with playing it in a UK player? again probably no problems but safer to ask.

Actually that links just description that links to amazon us. where did you get yours, thanks.
edit:

ok I found this on google

dvdboxoffice.com/mvi…756

good buy, heard nothing about dvdboxoffice though
edit 2:

decided on feebay its £19 but delivered quicker, need it for Christmas, so need somewhere located in the UK, have not ordered yet, if anyone knows a UK place for cheaper do say.

"Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition"

Ordered, heat and repped! ;-)

This will make a decent gift for someone.

Heated & ordered, thanks

3rd time I've bought this film now....

Thank you OP, heat & rep added :santa:

Actually its not the picture quality thats the problem (its fine, seen it on differant screens etc) but its the fact that there arent any hard coded subtitles for the alien/ancient egyptian/Goa'uld speech, so unless u keep turning the soft subs on and then off again every differant scene, you wont understand them. It was a production fault with the original blu ray release..

If that's the case then it gets returned.

Good film, great price..... BUT

worst conversion onto Blu Ray I've seen, you can still see the lines thread holding up the space craft as it flies round the desert.

The specials effect are nearly as bad as Red Dwarf ..... :-D

I can confirm that this disc does have subtitles in this instance.
