I must be getting old - but think this place is over priced for what you get.

Quite literally the ethos of this whole site.

Give a couple of pound to somebody for a couple of minutes work? You missed the point of the ten pound deal? Would you give a couple of pound to a colleague in tesco who showed you where the beans were?

Why should they have a tip? I do not get tips for doing my job well.

Doh. Tipping is a rip off. It's their job to serve you. Do you tip the checkout assistant in the supermarket? Waiting for enraged Americans to kick off about this post.

It's not my job to make others feel good about their job at my expense. Tipping culture makes the employer feel it isn't their responsibility or they couldn't care less as the customer is the mug.

Back to this deal. Cheers op. Love pizza express, always been impressed with them.

Do they not add an 'optional' 10% service charge anyway?

I tip the waiter if I get exceptional service. I also tip my postman by buying him a bottle of whiskey every year, and I get exceptional service. I also do this for other service people who go above and beyond.

What a grinch.

And postmans like myself enjoy delivering and providing a good service to people like yourself erko.

It's a rubbish selection.
They add a service charge.. If you add an extra tip onto your card payment PE keep some of it.

No service charge

Good deal. I always tip when out eating. Tip delivery drivers as well. Why people don't is not my business, I just think it's not right. Unless you can't afford to. Which is different.

Yes, they add a 10% service charge. An extra 22 quid added onto our party if 10's meal

They didn't automatically add it when I went (Twickwnham branch), though you have they option when paying on the card machine.

If you knew there was a chance of a tip though, you'd maybe try that extra bit harder, no?

Nice one

good deal....

i absolutely hate the concept of tipping ...i wish the 10% was just part of the food bill....
tipping is bullll culture and occurs because the owner of the restaurant won't pay his staff properly (especially in the US)... so were expected to pick this up as well...

I also hate (especially) in America fake waiters being all over you thinking they will get more cash out of you..I just think its degrading for them....I don't like their culture of having your hand out every time you do something for someone...that they have across all the service industries there.....they are being exploited by poor labour laws and **** bosses.

But...I eat out a lot both here and in the US and would never consider not tipping 10% here and 20% over there....it's an unspoken rule of eating out. There's nothing worse than being out to dinner with people who refuse to tip for one reason or another...my view is stay at home or go somewhere like Wetherspoons if you don't want to tip...

If the service is bad that's a different story just refuse to tip and let them know why or go to the manager to resolve it.....

I agree. It's the case everywhere not just US.

I dont think these deals are great tbh. I would much rather go to Nandos and buy a whole chicken with 2 regular starters and two bottomless drinks for about £18-19. Feel you get so much more for your money in terms of substance as a pizza costs nowt to make. Don't get me wrong I love pizza and think PE is decent but for the money no thanks. I would prefer to be packed full of lovely protein than dough. If it was £7-8 maybe I might feel better towards it but these deals are tiresome and been around forever that they arent actually deals as they are on all the time. Its probably their real price they charge and mug you off even more at the so called prices.

The code provided will only work once in the restaurant chosen and they put them into the computer and they are checked off a live database - it does check and I have seen people embarrassed by it not working.

However if you want your own code get it from here pizzaexpress.com/lat…ers this offer is available most of the year as is the weekend deal offer for £12.95 for three courses. They will take your email (and optionally mobile number) and spam you with their offers every week, sometimes twice.

If you have tesco clubcard vouchers you get £40 worth of pizza express vouchers for £10 of clubcard though you cannot use them to pay for offers like this one (or for drinks).

For the service charge:

All our prices include VAT but no service charge. However, we will ask … All our prices include VAT but no service charge. However, we will ask for adiscretionary 12.5% service charge for parties of 7 or more adults. Whetheryou include it or not is entirely up to you.

Cash tips go straight to the staff who serve you and credit card tips are handled by the credit card company who charge 8%, the remaining total is split 70/30 front of house/kitchen staff on their pay checks (they then also pay NI and Income tax from it) - In summary give a cash tip if you want to give one!

No. I wouldn't.

If you get praised by a customer you get money, but that's rare even if you are great at your job.

Thats more to do with I guess, it's easier to complain that to praise people.

I get a wage for my job, and I work for that wage.

It isn't the credit company that takes 8% from card tips, it's Pizza Express. They say it is to compensate themselves for operating the tronc system.

i totally agree with that, in fact i think its a silly practise, thats another way of ripping customers off, cause guess what, restaurants pay waiters less than dishwasher guys cause they count the tips in the sal package. Shouldn't pricing be transparent and complete. You dont buy a tv from currys for £500 and pay £50 extra tip to the cashier, so why pay a waiter, its their job!
