Bob on, not given it much punishment yet but first impressions great and same for the company, good coms, and quick delivery.

Good bike?

Arrives tomorrow! #newbikeday

Let me know what you think. I love mine! I've changed the pedals for cleats etc, changed the stem for a bit more length/height in the handlebar, but otherwise it's a complete cracker.

So pleased, I saw this when it was first posted just after my bike was stolen but needed to wait on the insurance etc. Now all sorted I ordered one today as they are still available. Great deal and just the type of bike I was after.

Very amusing! These tops are a million miles from Bukta . The logos are fairly small and hardly like Superdry or Gap . Let’s hope Adidas or Nike never make PE kits or that’ll be the end of them

Champion seemed to pick up when Vetements made it's collab ripping the script logo which was actually a while back ( 2016). There were various other brands contributing to the hype with collabs which were mainly Japanese such as beams, undefeated and the big hype skate brand supreme. All of which have been seen across various celebs such as asap Rocky and Kylie Jenner. I bought 2 different hoodies back then, one of the eco 60/40 cotton polyester blend and a reverse weave and whilst it might be tempting, I only really believe in their reverse weave products. A lot of what champion currently are is extremely overpriced cheap sportswear (as seen in sportsdirect/topman/JD). If it's expensive and not a high cotton product just don't even bother, it's not worth the hype. There's fakes all over eBay and Depop too, probably with better quality than most of the ones stocked in these fast fashion stores. I just sold one of my reverse weave hoodies for £35 which was more than I bought it for new so goes to show how in demand it currently is

I remember when champion was the gear of choice for playing basketball in , in the early 90's ! High quality stuff then , infact I think I still have a pair of shorts from way back then , still intact ! (y) (lol)

I bought the grey zip up sweatshirt a few weeks ago. I'd been looking at Champion and how it was trendy and sold quite expensively in stores like Urban Outfitters and Size?, so when I saw that Start were selling the brand inexpensively I thought I'd give them a go. However I think what Start Fitness are selling here is a budget or European range compared to the more premium American quality range that you see elsewhere at a higher price. The fabric feels thinner and the printing looks more basic, they also lack the embroidered 'C' logo on the sleeve and other little things like that. Still, not bad at all for the price, better than some generic hoodie from Primark. As for why the brand has recently become trendy, I think I read that some celebrities like Kanye West have started to wear the classic Reverse Weave hoodies.

Champion... my kids pe kit is champion... how is this ‘hot’? Bukta, anyone? Perhaps it’s an irony thing. A subtle dig at the fashion industry. People will wear anything with a logo. Henleys, for example!

I have a carbon PX frame and it doesn't creak at all, even the BB30 cranks (does this make me unique in the world?). Also have a carbon MTB and have no issues there either, albeit it's a more expensive brand. There's as much brand snobbery between cyclists as there is animosity between cyclists and non-cyclists on these forums :)

From what I understand fuji-ta will do rapid prototyping of frames for their customers but its all extra money which adds to the importers costs. To me most seem to go with generic proven fuji-ta designs which are offered for less money and likely more reliable. However its in the interests of such importers to claim they are manufactured to their design etc to add to the perceived value of the bike. The current market seems to be only high end models get the design innovation which helps market the brand and then the bulk of bike sales that bring in the real profits are generic chinese bikes at lower price points. I'm sure that doesn't fit the profile of all companies but it certainly seems true of most. Nothing wrong with them of course but then if you are just choosing an importer and the brand doesn't really make much difference its really about value, warranty etc. It's when people aspire to a top end model of a certain brand but make do with a lower end model of the same brand, they are connected in the consumer's mind but have in fact no real connection at all in reality.

Fair comment, but then it's not advertised as 'full' 105. Something most bike manufacturers hide behind with their marketing. Plus you forgot to state it includes 105 shifters, which is the most relevant and expensive part of a groupset.

Colour blindness doesn't make the objects invisible.. (shock)

Yes, forgot that, which explains me having to beep at loads of drivers for not going as soon as lifts turn green! However, I suppose aside from pink, I don't really care about the colour of bikes and it never really features in my purchase decision.

You'll find that deuteranomaly is the commonest for of colour blindness and hence green bikes may actually be at more risk from colourblind drivers!! (shock) either way it's not my bag but accept it may be yours and others! (highfive)

Tektro brakes, RS500 Cranks and KMC chain. I'm not sure how they can get away with backing this a 105 bike, as it's only the FD, RD and cassette. Available in a decent range of sizes though. Usually bikes with large discount end up being limited to odd or few sizes.

you cant double up codes, so the price is today only i think using code "FLASH10", i got the fox34 130mm before christmas with the 10% off, had planned a pike but wanted to match the rear shock 8) i'm tempted by that yari too, but its quite heavy (but very robust) it'll take upto a 2.8 tyre, if you want a 3.0 ie 27.5+ its the 29er Fork .. i'm wanting a hardcore hardtail with 2.6 tyres, so im tempted, if it was CRC with a one year refund policy i'd have picked one up :0)

Thanks OP. Good prices that. Tempted by the Yari 130mm. There's supposedly a 10% off code when you sign up to the newsletter (new customers only). But I bet it won't work on sale items.

That's quite a decent deal, considering its mid-season and post brexit.

I think I'm wrong sorry, I think it was closer to 12, I only bothered to weigh it as it felt noticeably heavier than the Cube Peloton it was replacing which was about 9.5kg.

Hey, proper road bikes are slowly becoming disc equipped...

I can not really see why this is cheap, fair enough its a good make but that is really quite heavy for a modern bike. M y old 2009 Trek is only 8.5kg and cost me £130 second hand.

You mean to rim caliper brakes like a proper road bike?

After a lot of though I've decided to go for Reasons - newer model, better specification, good customer service from declathon, near perfect reviews and little information about Forme in the internet .

This or Halfords Boardman Road Team Carbon for £800 now on offer.

This particular bike has a Compact, which is 50/34. The reason I was suggesting to swap is that FSA aren't very good (in my experience), not because of the ratios. A compact should be fine for most people, without having to go for a dinner-plate-sized sprocket on the cassette!

I've just moved from a Bianchi with a similar spec 53/39 and 13/26 and I've now got a Eastway Zener D2 - just posted on here. Look for a 50/34 and 12/28 at least.

imo the Forme is the better value but as others have said the gearing with 53/39 and 11/25 is very racy and wouldn't suit you if you're unfit. I have the BTwin Mach 720 which has 52/36 and 11/28 cassette and that's good for me ( and I'm pretty happy with it, sat on my turbo trainer at the moment. Slightly different (more aggressive) shape to the Ultra though.

I'm having the same problem. Not that fit though have done 50+ miles few times last year on a Halford Careera Road bike. What's putting me off the Forme is the inability to test ride this and if this requires adjustment later. I think at the end I'll land up with the BTWN. Though full price its components are same or better than the Forme except for the lighter carbon frame with the Forme .

My heart would say the Forme, my head, a little reluctantly, the BTwin. I would struggle with that gearing on the Forme, once the going got steep. Unless, of course, you're extremely fit, or not planning to cycle anywhere hilly; in that case the Forme would definitely be my choice.

I'm planning it as a first Road bike having ridden hybrid until now. Any advice on this or the Declathon one I posted before this. Thanks

I have the same problem, the seat rotates regardless of tightness. Hopefully a dropper will fix the issue :)

Thanks for commenting Darksleuth. My experience is very similar (bar for the crash). Hope you're not too badly bruised. The bike handles and corners like a proper all mountain machine. Gives you more confidence and encourages to go faster, brake later and so on. And as my skills and stamina improve I find it even more fun to ride. But I have to remind myself its only a short travel hardtail and be careful not to get carried away. One complaint I have is the seat clamp. It doesn't clamp the seat tube sufficiently well to hold the seatpost in place. And I'm on the extreme light end of the weight spectrum myself. I suspect the seat tube's diameter is left too large. This is going to force me into a purchase of a dropper post sooner or later. Does anyone else have this problem?

Just thought I'd give a quick comment - the bike is a beast, it really inspires confidence and because of that I'm enjoying the ride more with a great big smile on my face. Though I did crash into a tree today, thankfully the bike is fine :)

For the moment I've got 2.4" Chunky Monkies front and back so there's plenty of room for big tyres. I've ordered a Specialized Purgatory for the rear which should roll a bit faster. Chunky Monkey Specialized Purgatory

What tyres did you manage to fit. The frame looks like there's space for a fair bit more. Not sure about the fork. I've been out on mine on Thursday for a proper test around our local trials. Nothing too extreme but a good test given I know those trials quite well. The bike rips. Really builds confidence in a beginner such as myself. Handling is really good on twisty singletrack. And it grips brilliantly compared to my old bike (which is partly attributed to larger wheels and wider tyres). The frame felt quite forgiving compared to steel. But that was on 20PSI I rode it on the original stem and bars. I have replaced the stem with a cheapo 60mm one. I think I'll fit a low riser bar as well. When replacing the stem I noticed the front hub developed some major play. So I didn't manage to take out for a ride today. That's just typical shimano.

After reading all the positive talk in here about this bike I pulled the trigger and it's arriving tomorrow. Should I be disappointed if it doesn't come with the Easton wheel set?

frame is key. other bits can be swapped next Christmas!

Absolutely love it. No problems so far. Only change was some semi slicks as the stocks are a little sticky (for road use). Only other consideration I may have gone for was the whyte 629 which can be had for the same money. But it's not quite as well spec'd but does offer a more forward geometry/longer top tube/wheelbase for a little more trail friendly

Those that have took the plunge on this and bought, what's your thoughts. Happy with your purchase? So close to pulling the trigger and buying but want to be sure as it's a little over budget
