Firstly, this is not a new or reduced price. this is their normal advertised price.

I'm posting this so it helps others in case they weren't aware but also in response to this Autoaid deal - hotukdeals.com/dea…182

The start rescue deal covers the vehicle regardless of who is driving but more importantly is not a policy where you have to pay the bill initially and re claim it back.

The price quoted is for a car 10 years or less. Not much more for a car upto 15 years old.

European cover with illness is only £74.50 ... still cheap

I have been with them for almost a year and they have sent me a 10% renewal discount.

Admittedly I have not had to use them so can not comment on their service personally.

Hope you find it useful and share the heat.

Startrescue have been good for me, good price and no problems with their service as yet, been with them for about 6 months.
In case people don't know about a very popular breakdown service, have a look here

I used them (Europ Assistance) for a few years, and their price included European cover too before I got a company car.

so this is per car - not for the person like most breakdown cover?
DAMNOME

Correct. For people who regularly drive various cars, they are better with a provider provides value on personal cover.

This is better for people who share the car - doesn't matter who's driving - or tend to drive the same car.

Not sure most automatically cover the policyholder, normally its just the car - covering policyholder is an extra

heat added i have this deal and its cheap for the cover you get, most breakdown cover vehicle only
not for me - I wouldn't take the car anywhere for fixing yet that's what their national recovery means - nearest of home, destination, or garage!

Hmmmm. £35 compared to £94. Which one should I chose? Decsions, decisions!!
I was very interested in the 2 star recovery but dont like the idea of not having a choice of having the car recovered to my home ,destination or garage ,it seems it's ' whichever is closest'. That's the spoiler for me .I've downloaded the pdf's and read them but there's no more information on this .

Seems bit odd to me.

On a mid to long journey, you are almost always going to be closer to a garage than your home or destination.
Yes , but as someone mentioned , I would always want to choose which garage to use , that's if I couldn't fix the problem myself . I wouldn't want my vehicle to towed to some very expensive dealership and get robbed .I would want to bring the vehicle back to my home and diagnose any problems then take it from there . I'm sure other recovery firms give you the choice.

Very true and same choice applies for me. I'm due for renewal in Feb so got time to shop around or wait for a deal to pop up.

I shall give them a ring anyway to confirm that i have understood their policy correctly.
that was the point I made - I have the kit to plug into my car and check it out - and often fix stuff myself, so why would I go to some random place of their choosing

I emailed Startrescue about this taking to a local garage to be ripped off sorry i mean repaired they emailed me back and said if its under 80miles they would usually take you home,Now thats no good to me if i break down anywhere i want the car taken home (son in law is a mechanic mot tester),But most of the rescue services are saying this in the small print now,So i stayed with More Than breakdown been with them about 5 years and they do take you on to destination or home,Full cover including Europe was £67,
If it wasn't for the taking to a garage i would have gone for this because if i took the personal cover on top that would cover my Mazda pickup which for some reason not many want to cover.
