Well, I've got a reasonable idea that it'd involve scrounging for food, medicine and other supplies, managing home defences and building a community, rather than taking a linear journey through a creepy mansion looking for a key with a carving of a helmet on it.

My point is, it actually sets out to replicate the scenarios you see in The Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc. (i.e. the popular conception of what a zombie apocalypse would be like) rather than just using zombies as enemies in an otherwise standard, linear action game.

I think its the same. I played it a few months ago on Game Pass
Probably the best zombie survival game ever. And before anyone pipes up saying 'Last of Us / Dying Light / Resident Evil is better', yes those are all very good action games that happen to have zombies in them, and they might even be better games than SoD overall, but none of them comes close to actually simulating a zombie apocalypse like SoD does.

State of Decay - still an unoptimized mess (even on XBX) edition.

State of Decay - still an unoptimized mess (even on XBX) edition.

As much as I love the game, this is true.
Started playing this game and whilst I enjoyed the concept it is horrible to play due to optimisation issues. Constant fps drops it just feels so sluggish.
Had this on 360, but got confused about what I had to do when I first got to the house and people were hungry and tired etc. I'd love to buy it for X1 but don't really know how to play it Any very basic advice on where I can learn a bit about what I have to do?
Thanks I managed to get a refund on this brought it last week £19.99 and got free trial of gold so got it for £5.00 😁
