These are very useful for a variety of appliances, I use them for my Dishwasher to run overnight, and of course great for Christmas lights, and this one can switch upto a 13 amp load. It's a mechanical segment timer, but unlike some has more segments, which means it offers 15 minute time segments over the 24 hour period. They also have a manual override, so no need to remove if you want manual control of whatever you connect. These are really easy to setup as well, just push down the little segments for the switched on times you require.Eg, if you wanted 6pm to 10pm, you'd just press down all the segments from 18 - 22, easy.

Anyway, very handy to have around, and at only £1.99 (typically these are £3-£5) a great price, so I got a couple for some oil filled radiators, and some of my Christmas lights.

Yes, no problem with that at all, infact as I mentioned, I use one with an outside 4 way enclosure for Christmas lights. The important thing is just to make sure as with any extension lead or adapter that you do not plug in any devices which would exceed the total load, in this case 3200w, so for example you couldn't have 2 x 2kw fan heaters (unless you only used one at a time!), just add up the total wattage of the devices you're connecting and keep below 3000w for safety. Most people use these timers for lights, which are usually very low wattage, or single appliances.
Hope that helps.
In theory the fuse in the plug of extension lead prevents overloading. In practice these timers are built down to a price, and will probably not last very long if you switch large loads with them. One I have from Tesco says max load 3kW but then on the same label tells you not to use it with high power appliances! D'oh!
