Stealth VR100 Mobile VR Experience Bundle - Argos - £14.99

Argos have reduced this VR headset to £14.99 from £24.99. Has a bluetooth controller and earphones. I'm sure very basic compared to the pricier versions, but may be a good introduction if you don't want to spend hundreds. I'm sure lots of people will feel this isn't good enough quality, but if you're buying for a kid who might have a go for a while and then abandon it then it might be a good choice. Plus would you want to buy some £500 device for you kid who then loves it and gets totally immersed in a VR world. Is that even healthy? This needs a phone in it to work.

Voted cold. I have one and it's absolutely useless. So blurry it's unreal. It does have focus adjustment but it doesn't help. My 5.5" phone felt like it was being squeezed too tightly as well. I was afraid it would scratch my phone as there wasn't much leeway. I replaced it with a £2.99 cardboard one and the optics on that are much better.

Which cardboard one did you buy? I haven't found a good one yet.
I bought this a couple of weeks ago but unfortunately had to take it back as the focusing wheel wasn't stiff enough to cope with the weight of a large phone. If I looked up or down then the weight of the phone caused the front of the unit to drop forwards or backwards and therefore losing focus. The straps also kept popping off the hooks but maybe I just have a big head.

Having said all that for kids and people with lighter phones than mine then this is quite good value and it did work well if I didn't look up or down too far.

It was a Star Wars one from Argos. Supposed to be £14.99 but wouldn't fancy paying all that for a cardboard one. Works perfectly fine though and holds phone well.

Ok, thanks, hadn't tried that one - didn't realise it had any optics, thought it was just cardboard holes. Thanks for the tip.

It's funny reading the reviews on Argos - one of the people said their galaxy 7 edge fell out of it and nearly broke their £500 phone. Surely if you had a plus £500 Samsung you'd spend £50 more and get their VR device rather than this sort of entry level device? It's strange these product which seem to alternate between positive 5* reviews and really negative 1* ones. Usually happens with cheap things - I guess expectations vary

They all have lenses, no one can focus that close.

Absolutely go for a BoboVR Z4. They are fantastic. Great optics, fully adjustable, built in headphones, amazing price for what you get. I have tried a few premium headsets and these are my favourite.
