Brink is an immersive first-person shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character whether playing alone, with your friends, or against others online. You decide the combat role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more.

Brink takes place on the Ark, a man-made floating city that is on the brink of all-out civil war. Originally built as an experimental, self-sufficient and 100% “green” habitat, the reported rapid rise of the Earth’s oceans has forced the Ark to become home to not only the original founders and their descendants but also to thousands of refugees. With tensions between the two groups growing, Security and Resistance forces are locked in a heated battle for control of the Ark. Which side will you choose?

KEY FEATURES:
  • Not Just Another Hero – Brink's advanced player customization offers a near-endless combination of looks for your character – allowing for the appearance of your character to be truly unique. As you progress through the game and acquire more experience, you’ll have even more opportunities for customization.
  • Two Sides to Every Story – Choose to fight through the single player campaign as either a member of the Resistance or the Security and then take your same character online to play cooperatively or competitively against other players.
  • Blurring the Lines – Take your unique character online at any time you choose! Brinkallows you to seamlessly move between your single player campaign, co-op with friends, and intense multiplayer action. Multiplayer takes the story online where you can play with up to seven other people (or AI characters) cooperatively as you take on the opposing faction or with up to 16 players competitively.
  • Play SMART – Brink uses the familiar shooter controls that you’re used to, without frustrating, artificial constraints and adds a new feature: the SMART button. When you press the SMART button, the game dynamically evaluates where you’re trying to get to, and makes it happen. Whether you’re a seasoned FPS veteran or someone just getting started, you’ll be able to make more intelligent decisions during the fast-paced action with SMART.
  • Context-Sensitive Goals and Rewards - Objectives, communications, missions, and inventory selection are all dynamically generated based on your role, your condition, your location, your squad-mates, and the overall status of the battle in all gameplay modes. You’ll always know exactly where to go, what to do when you get there, and what your reward will be for success.

    Heat!!!!
Just saw this on Facebook - interesting strategy but far too late! Actually loved the game, but when 90% of game was bots (due to the lack of players) it made getting anywhere impossible. Hopefully this increases the player counts enough and keeps them up!
Nice find Buzz! 21 year old eldest son is well impressed!

Which is the general feel on the Steam reviews now. It's going from Mixed to Mostly Negative just by one comment either way
I think this one was slightly ahead of its time! Had it on the PS3 and it was actually really good but no community grew around it, I'm expecting it to be deader than even Battleborn right now!

Heat for it being free though!
This game didn't get the attention it deserved, it was quite difficult due to the AI, but it was a fantastic game. The guns felt like they had a great weight to them.

Except you could aim the crosshair right at someone and empty a clip to find only one or two bullets hit the target because of the spread
Second worst game I've ever played.
Great game but Dirty Bomb is also free to play and plays like a more 'advanced' Brink. As I understand it's a lot of same devs too.
However I had a lot of fun playing Brink back in the day.

I skimmed over that for a reason ;-)

Splash damage are exactly the same Devs, started out as quake wars modders.

Brink I think came to quickly and they tried to do to much, shame because the idea and physics were great but poor matchmaking and AI let it down they seem to get better with age though
Had this pre ordered when it first came out due to an amazing beta.
It released and was totally unplayable on Radeon ati cards for about 3 month's which totally killed the community it had had during the beta. Massive shame.
Heat added but to be honest the game was a total mess when it came out I think mostly due to the awful AI balancing choices.

I got it at release and it did have serious potential but the AI was crazy unbalanced.

Just taking solo play for ease of talking, your AI team was, without actually much exaggeration, practically lobotomised (to the point I would find them literally just sitting looking into a corner as if they were an AFK player) which left you with near enough all the work on your team. However, and here's the huge problem, the other team AI played like a coordinated pro team against you and it would get to the point where they could shut you out completely from objectives.

If your team played like the AI I would've happily played until 100% but it's a game which was a rare case of me simply giving up on it because it was so bad.

I didn't mention the multiplayer side but that's mostly because the game died extremely quickly from what I recall, so much so that after a week I think I was lucky to be able to find only two or three players per match when searching and so I couldn't ever get the full experience whenever I tried to find a match.
The trailer made this game look frigging awesome, concept was ace, particularly for it's time of launch with co-op etc but as other have noted absolute garbage in reality. One of the worst FPS I've ever played. Shame.

Back in the day, key words there. Bought this at launch. Not much longevity in it. Titanfall does what this game does pretty much. +giant robots
Now it's free to play, do I get some bonus bling for having wasted money on it way back at release?
Don't think I played more than a handful of games
Heard terrible things but it's got to be great value for money at this price!
    Snagged it....heat
Are we able to play online with this?
Remember when this first got announced ,I was so hyped , picked it up day of release and couldn't have been more let down , thought it was truly awful , personally wouldn't waste the time IMO
Bought this on release haha, loved the movement and sort of "free-running" if you could call it that

But as people have said it had potential, just didnt take off as I would have liked
    Great thanks! heat added
    Nice
