I appreciate the the OPs intent was to post the deal with the cheapest possible price, but at least mentioning the alternative games would have been a good idea. For a few extra quid you might get a game you actually want.

There are postal charges to be added, which you don't see until the checkout unfortunately.
This game is amazing, I spent a lot of time playing with my best friend, highly recommended, Steam link, well - meh!

Lol. I'd actually posted Steam's pricing error, where it was available for much cheaper, for about 30 minutes, where the game was included free, for just the 80p price of the steam link.
Steam link is awful. I have very good internet at my house and it lagged like no tomorrow. Save your money.

Need home plugs or a wired LAN connection really. Only a few people seem to have good WiFi experiences with this. If you are hard wired, it works great.

absolutly forgot about delivery! forgot how much it was
Was literally waiting for these to go on sale checking prices yesterday thanks OP!!
I got this, used my old 360 controllers with the USB link and every time Lego games go on sale on steam, I pick them up for a few quid.

Easy way to keep the younger kids entertained but I wouldn't use it for full on gaming.

I was using it with ethernet plugs and at least 80mb going through them. Gave up after a week and sent back for full refund.
Thanks OP but will wait for the controller + link bundle.
It's sickening how bad steam's shipping is. So expensive and yet it can still take upto 8 days. What a joke xD

It also does rely on a fairly beefy host computer, which has to encode the video stream, as well as run your game (or whatever you're streaming). Could your problems have been caused by lack of hardware video encoding or available CPU cores to do the video encoding, rather than the actual Steam Link itself?

Looks like they are doing the bundle with controller but with Doom instead.

My pc was far above steams recommended requirements. Maybe I got a faulty one but was bad experience.

Don't bother with it, just get xbox controller. I've got steam controller, wired xbox and wireless xbox controller with steam link. It's like the unofficial controllers of the old days with the SNES - nobody wants it.
I saw this yesterday but backed out when I saw the delivery price. If I weren’t going to see my favourite band then I would have got this. Absolutely typical timing!
Can someone tell my what is the point of having this if I already have my pc connected via hdmi to my tv ?

Thanks, yeah I remember when they did the link and controller bundle last year. Sadly missed out on it.
Now if only steam would sort out their shipping system, it would be perfect!

It's got nothing to do with internet, you're not downloading anything, it just uses your local network, so that needs to be optimised for video streaming. A decent router and a wired connection is recommended - also your PC needs to be fast enough to encode the video on top of playing the game smoothly.

You mean power line adapters? In that case I would have troubleshooted those, because it sounds like the bandwidth through them was fine but the latency wasn't. With those, you've basically got two extra mini routers on your network for everything to ping through (PC <-> Power line adapter <-> power line adapter <-> router <-> Steam link) and something was bottlenecking somewhere. I've got some and network file transfers are blisteringly fast through them but when using a Steam Link I get better results without them.

You could stream it to another TV/monitor elsewhere in the house?

Yeah, that's basically all it's for - streaming to another display, but if you're close enough to use a HDMI cable then you don't need it. Some people run long HDMI cables through the house for an extra display, but the Steam Link has the added advantage of being able to connect to controllers via USB and Bluetooth, which is more convenient and has better compatibility than also running USB extenders through the house.

It works perfectly for me, both for 1080p games and streaming bt sport (wired to the router and using home plugs).. My gaming pc is on the opposite side of the house.
If you use it on flaky WiFi I expect you're gonna have a bad time.

Nope. It require the same hardware whether streaming through WiFi or LAN. Works perfectly through LAN. Works fine hardwired on Ryzen 5, AMD FX and an Intel Xeon PC. The WiFi stutters despite me having over 60mbs on my WiFi at the far end. My WiFi is clearly just not stable enough.

I wish i had waited a week more for this deal before buying a used one from ebay.
Anyway, it works really well having it connected to the EE Brightbox 2 using the supplied cable and my laptop connected using 5ghz wifi placed upstairs. I tried Mortal Combat and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare for half an hour.
