As a hunter, you'll take on quests to hunt monsters in a variety of habitats.
Take down these monsters and receive materials that you can use to create stronger weapons and armor in order to hunt even more dangerous monsters.

In Monster Hunter: World, the latest installment in the series, you can enjoy the ultimate hunting experience, using everything at your disposal to hunt monsters in a new world teeming with surprises and excitement.

Setting
Once every decade, elder dragons trek across the sea to travel to the land known as the New World in a migration referred to as the Elder Crossing.

To get to the bottom of this mysterious phenomenon, the Guild has formed the Research Commission, dispatching them in large fleets to the New World.

As the Commission sends its Fifth Fleet in pursuit of the colossal elder dragon, Zorah Magdaros, one hunter is about to embark on a journey grander than anything they could have ever imagined.

ECOSYSTEMA World That Breathes Life
There are various locations teeming with wildlife. Expeditions into these locales are bound to turn up interesting discoveries.HUNTINGA Diverse Arsenal, and an Indispensable Partner
Your equipment will give you the power to need to carve out a place for yourself in the New World.

The Hunter's Arsenal
There are fourteen different weapons at the hunter's disposal, each with its own unique characteristics and attacks. Many hunters acquire proficiency in multiple types, while others prefer to attain mastery of one.

Scoutflies
Monster tracks, such as footprints and gashes, dot each locale. Your Scoutflies will remember the scent of a monster and guide you to other nearby tracks. And as you gather more tracks, the Scoutflies will give you even more information.

Slinger
The Slinger is an indispensable tool for a hunter, allowing you to arm yourself with stones and nuts that can be gathered from each locale.
From diversion tactics to creating shortcuts, the Slinger has a variety of uses, and allows you to hunt in new and interesting ways.

Specialized Tools
Specialized tools activate powerful effects for a limited amount of time, and up to two can be equipped at a time. Simple to use, they can be selected and activated just like any other item you take out on a hunt.

Palicoes
Palicoes are hunters' reliable comrades out in the field, specialized in a variety of offensive, defensive, and restorative support abilities.
The hunter's Palico joins the Fifth Fleet with pride, as much a bona fide member of the Commission as any other hunter.

SO MANY CHEAP GAMES!!
Finally a good price for the PC version
and now I am left thinking, is this good and can it be played solo if one chooses (in terms of difficulty)?

Also, does anyone know if connectivity issues are fixed?
Was looking for this for the past 2 days. Thank you

I'm sure it's possible, though I did encounter a few situations where it was handy to meet other random lobby strangers. We didn't have to engage in conversation. Got the job done and progressed on our own

Tempted to buy, just never really got into the other Monster Hunter games but this one looks so much better!
I will play online, I just heard it had connection issues, hoping they are fixed now lol

All the monster hunter games handle like a brick on ice, this one is no different. It's a fairly bad port and it will eat your system and run like garbage. Connectivity issues are rampant, but if you can overlook the many, many, issues this game has then you might just about squeak out a few hours of fun somewhere.

Would not recommend playing solo, boring, repetitive and a real slog on your own.

I bought it for 24 pound after originally playing it a fair bit on my PS4 and I've barely touched the game. It's super clunky. Not sure why I wasted my money tbh.

Mate if I could give you mine I would.

Don't get me wrong, when everything goes right, and with friends it can be fun... but most of the time it's just annoying and I get really racked off with the crummy control system. Everything you do is delayed so it feels really disconnected when you want some fast fluid combat and you get a sequence of slow non interactive long wind up animation type abilities that seemingly do no damage.

It took me a good six hours before I started to enjoy things, smashed 50hrs in a short space of time then ditched it in favour of other games. I'm very undecided about it to be honest, though I can almost see the appeal... £12.99 ain't bad at all, though I couldn't wholeheartedly recommend it.

It's not a poor game by any means, though I don't see the point in trying to convince myself the loop is great. I'd get more enjoyment out of Rocket League or Apex Legends for an hour or two so Monster Hunter just gets sidelined ad infinitum.

(On my phone, so sorry for the wall of text) I
recommend watching some reviews. Let me just give you my opinion of the game though. This was my very first game in the Monster Hunter Series. Its a long game (50+ hour campaign) so you need to stick with it, to really know if you like it or not. I was unsure myself at first, but then I got to a certain monster and I was hooked. There's little to no story, the game's strengths is its gameplay loop, deep playing styles and lots of weapons and armour to craft and customise. The game can feel grindy but in a good way, as the grind is worth your time and you feel rewarded for defeating a monster. Then creating weapons and armour from it's body parts. Also, the game has hub worlds which are all diverse and have a bunch of side quests for you to do. They also have special events. For example, they had a witcher 3 event (for free) and you play as geralt and unlock him as a skin. They also have other armour sets and weapons from other Capcom Titles. The game isn't perfect , the tutorial is rubbish, you'll need to go online to get help because the game can feel overwhelming to a newbie. However, the game is definitely worth your time if you're a person who's more about gameplay than story driven games. It also a good game to come back to or play casually.

Gah lol! Thanks, see part of me still wants to try. God I wish there was a demo!
See I prefer story and character backstory in my games, a lot but some games I can accept none of them if the gameplay is fun and addictive. I do get addicted to leveling up and grinding so part of what you say does still appeal to me.
Hmm, so people are saying Dauntless is similar to this game just with less content, that is free though so maybe I could try that to try get a feel for the combat / gameplay lol?

Monster Hunter demos tend to be geared towards series veterans as you get thrown into a hunt with no real context. You only get to select the type of weapon you want to use and the sets are automatically determined for you. A large part of the enjoyment of Monster Hunter comes from mixing and matching armour and weapons to suit your playstyle

Worth noting that this Monster Hunter is the most accessible one by far out of all the entries due to some slightly divisive changes, most notably about the fact you can now eat/drink consumables while moving. In older Monster Hunter games, your character would stand still and chug down.

Cheers to both your comments! I may still pick it up, though maybe not yet and some point later. I definitely want to try it still but just not yet. So many games!
