Are these steam mops actually any good. I see it states can be used on carpet and rugs - is this for spot cleaning of strains, then?

They are just supposed to 'freshen up' carpets and rugs but don't really clean them or anything. May kill some bacteria though...

@rickardo, you get a glide which only steams the rug etc. when i bought mine i thought id use it on steps etc but you cant, overall rug looks very clean like iv washed it recently but after 3 days it will be back to normall if you know what i mean, its really handy as i have laminate and a rug in room were kids play on rug and i wanted to wash the rug so steam does the tempory job

Life of grime experts in the room lol!

Are these actually good or would it end up as another gadget in the cupboard?

Could i replace my flash spray mop for this?

well i usually use noodle cloth mops from b&m (£2.99) but they don't last long and these are good. won't take much space and no need to buy spray cleaner anymore.

Bought one similar to this few months ago. Fab fab fab. Love it, so much easier, cleaner, super fast, throw away your mop and bucket. As for use on carpets, wouldn't bother but tiles and wood flooring, wish I'd bought one years ago.

I have wooden floors and have never looked back since getting a steam mop. I usually use it without floor cleaner, but every so,often I use it with a wooden floor spray. As long as wood is sealed and this doesn't give off too much steam it's fab, especially if you have pets. The floor is never streaky either, previously I had to hand polish it to get that sort of finish.

These are made in china and will only work for a "few times" before something breaks, bad reviews on these machines!¬

Almost everything, certainly 99% of these mops, will be made in China.

Very few others will come with a three year warranty, definitely none I know of at this price point!

Hot hot hot for me.

Might be time to take the plunge and get one, not sure down on my hands and knees with the floor wipes is the future and maybe this is!

Think ill give these a go. I assume it can be use on vinyl flooring without issues?

Steam mops are awesome for vinyl and laminate. Would advise you get one with an attachment though as that means you can do windows, tiles and other stuff. I bought a Pifco 6-in-1 for £50 and use it all the time.

I love the steam mops, so easy to use not at all fiddly, will not be stashed away like my vax steamcleaner, recommend the mop the machines are a pain only brought out about every 3 months and have to push myself.

Can anyone tell how long does the cloth really last for a normal usage for a laminate living room. Also, what are the possible costs for replacement costs? I saw a Teleshopping Ad and was really surprised with very many things the steam map could do, but that was at £99 price point with few many attachments. So for the price point its HOT.

It's a bit pricey lol

good find

Steam mops are excellent and that is a really good price. It looks very similar to the Vax one I bought a while ago for £60. Doesn't take up much room, cleans well and very quickly. I use it on laminate, its fine as long as you dont hold the mop in one place for long as it just makes it damp rather than wet. Gone are the mop and bucket days, waiting ages for the floor to dry. Hygienic too as you can just sling the microfibre pads in the wash.

ill be off aa soon as possible

Ive just been to aldi and im gutted i missed out, anyone no if i get one of these from anywhere else, even if i have to spend more on it

they were queing for them and sold early morning. i got there 10:20am shame if i knew i would have paid yesterday

I went today to our local one at around 1.30 where they had 4 left but within an hour they had sold out! Very light and easy to carry.

To the person who bought a Vax steam cleaner (not a mop) I'm wondering how you fared with it? I bought one a few years back but didn't need to use it immediately. Used it on the carpets in the rental ONCE after which it had stopped working (no steam) completely!! Unfortunately the warranty was up at this point as well and because of this Vax wouldn't honour it! Read similar on reviews as well so after this I would never buy any Vax products ever again. Bought a Polti later which is much more expensive but sooo much better

I really wanted this steam mop. Even popped in local Aldi store yesterday to pre-book it but they didn't facilitate it. I called up the customer services and asked the stock availability in 4 stores around my area and work but sold out everywhere. I doubt that whether stock was supplied to all the branches. If anyone bought any extra please can I have it. Don't mind paying postage or I can even book courier to save hassle for you to go to the post office.

you know the reason why they sold out cos people shop there lot than ever before , each person takes a cataloge and returns time after times iv never seen aldi busy but i rang they said next year this time. ours had 4 pallets but i think we all should phone up or did they sell out because i posted the deal i was upset all day now going to wait for tax staff discount

I dithered over buying a steam mop having read some bad reviews then this came along!

I got it up and running in no time at all and it has an extremely healthy quantity of steam power to it. It did not leave excessive amounts of water on the floor, was very easy to move around and the mop cloths remained in situ. The steam is not adjustable but as I said earlier there is plenty of it. I tried the carpet glider and I was equally impressed with the carpet being steam cleaned and it left no damp patches at all.

All in all for £29-99 I am very impressed.

how hot is the steam meant to be? I tried cleaning my living room with laminate flooring, and although steam was coming out, the floor didnt feel hot immediately after mopping. How do we know if this steam will kill 99.9% of bacteria?

Mine gets very hot though it isnt an Aldi one. Have you tried making sure the water cartridge is fully clicked into place, I thought mine had broken one day and it was because it wasnt properly clicked in! But you should get quite a bit of steam and the pad should feel really quite hot.

thanks. its clicked into place properly, will have a feel of the pad in a bit. Does yours leave water on the floor? it takes a good 5-10min for mine to dry. Although in direct comparison with a mop and bucket, its not as wet as that!

Yeah, it does take 5 minutes or so for it to dry, I would say damp rather than really wet, dont mean to be rude and saying your floor's dirty, but are you getting quite a bit of dirt up on to the pad? If you are and your floor is taking around 5 mins to dry then all is probably ok!

Which ones had the bad reviews then? I know friends have the V20 (Thame) which retails for around £99 and are very pleased with it. In fact was considering this myself when I saw the Aldi one and I wholeheartedly agree you can't go wrong at this price plus the guarantee!

yea it picked up quite a bit of dirt. Was kinda worried it wasnt hot enough to kill the bacteria.

you should google the H20 X5 reviews on amazon.com. This is a £70 mop as advertised on a tv channel last night, it does more than just mop yet the reviews are really polarised...like marmite!
