Any good now it's matured?

Very good. Since the dreadful launch, you have to give it to the Devs, they worked their ass off to get this game on tract and did a brilliant job IMO

I DON'T NEED TO BUY THIS!

Of course you do. That's why you use this site

Couldn't say no at that price. Once my existing pile of games I "needed" to buy is cleared I reckon I'll be able to get round to playing it by 2023!

I think this is the cheapest I've seen it, and it has (supposedly) really turned the corner now that it has VR support and a revamp.

I've finally decided to pull the trigger, heat added!

I read (although didn't play at the time) the bad reviews this game received upon launch, everything promised was missing apparently. I bought it about 6 months ago, for co-op with my girlfriend. Is it perfect, no. Is it fun - for us, yes very! If you like base building, similar to Ark I guess? Crossed with Minecraft, crossed with Elite Dangerous, crossed with Subnautica, crossed with lots of other stuff I suppose.
I'll bite when it gets below a tenner. I've played the original version which I didn't mind, but I'm waiting for this to come down before i give it a go.

Still think that sitting in the cockpit of your ship while it's raining is very relaxing !
It's getting towards the kind of price that I'll just pick it up for when I DO get PCVR (like Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR already have), so that I'll have it should a sudden PCVR purchase happen unexpectedly.
Shame I can't transfer saves between platforms or I'd buy for Xbox and pc too.
Absolute steal, buy it!

I nearly bought this the other day but I'm wanting to play online co op with a friend and I wasn't sure just what you can do in co-op mode.

After searching a bit it sounded like you play on your own but can join each other and help mine resources, but it didn't sound much more than that?

I was hoping you could play the whole game as co-op. If you can I want it lol
I'll bite at £10 lol 😜

YYeah me too
It is awesome in VR !
Nice one heat added
A lot of game for your money particularly as all the updates and expansions have been free!
When you dig for gems and resources in VR your heart is racing. First time I was exploring bottom of the sea I felt like kirsty stewart must have in Underwater. The only thing missing was lovercraftian monster but hey maybe it is waiting for me on undiscovered planet somewhere. The only negative are ship controls in VR. I want to go back to this world .....missa wants it.

I've got a PSVR, reckon i should get on that rather than PC?
Here's a very entertaining (and long) video about NMS and the lead-up to its current state. It really is remarkable how they managed to turn it around.

Hard to say. I do not know how psvr compares to rift. If it is as awesome I would say, yeah totally. This game feels like it was made for VR. worth checking on psvr forum.

PSVR is a bit ropy. Jaggered edges, blurry text and somewhere between PS2/PS3 graphics. It's good fun though, its very much like the Wii in giving you something else with graphical sacrifice.

TBH i've got about 7 PSVR games i've yet to even play. Probably better off getting something on the PC. Makes a change from FM.
I bought this on Thursday I spent about 8 hours on it and took it back. I'm not into crafting games and that's what this is. I paid £22 so heat for price.
So if I buy this, it includes support for the VR? ..... Theres not another version I need to buy?

Yes and no
Cheers finally caved in after all these years and bought it. Spent 2 hrs so far and quite enjoyable. It reminded me what I expected Elite 2 to be like when i was a kid and you could land on planets etc.

On VR it's amazing (on planet, crap when flying). I dip out of VR when flying my ship, switch to VR when landed. If you can get a headset it's fantastic.

Elite dangerous best VR for space flight (never bothered landing on a planet yet, will wait for the space legs update at end of the year), shame NMS doesn't allow HOTAS use in VR

This game is soooooo good now. I've not even built a proper base yet... just acquiring resources and doing the story missions. I'm inclined to buy this again on Xbox to support the incredible work that Hello Games have put in since launch.

To be fair, next gen consoles in 6 months time will handle VR games better than PC since they will have the power but more importantly the optimisation. They are backward compatitable so worse case an update with the same vr experience as pc.

That is absolutely not true. There are VR headsets out there now like the valve index and pimax 8k that will make a next gen console kill itself. I'm running a 9900k with a 2080ti and it struggles on my index. Running ACC I have to have it on low settings just to get any smooth game play.

We are at a stage where the pc hardware is holding back VR and you are saying that the next gen consoles will run it better. I doubt the power of ps6 will run the pimax 8k never mind the ps5 no matter how much optimisation is used.

I waited till they confirmed that the headset would be backwards compatible before I made the jump at Xmas, looking forward to a better experience on the ps5. If it could like like a ps4 game in vr then I'll be a happy customer.

Think you can apportion some of the blame to the programming as well. Until they find a better way of doing 3d then you are going to have to double up on hw to get it looking like a std game. From memory they are drawing everything twice, that correct? Must be a more efficient way of doing it, using something like de-dupe in the vr world may help. Interesting times ahead though. Soon as they nail movement (always thought of sensor straps for feet to gesture wasd would have been explored) then gamers will only want one kind of format.

Ended up going for pc. Enough non played titles on psvr atm. Died instantly overheating, bit now keeping an eye on things and make it to a 2nd planet.
Heat added. Been looking at this for last few months. Finally bit at £12.99. Lowest price ever for Steam key. Good spot OP. There was also 5% quidco

I got it Thursday unless you have hours and hours to spare this game is impossible, I was 8 hours into the tutorial and after spending an hour recovering "1 buried tech plan" in order to build something i didnt understand the next step in the tutorial was to find another 5! of these buried plans, in order to biuld the next part of my base, considering there are 100s of things to build thats when i ejected and took it back. Its certainly and impressive in depth game but its one you need to put the hours into.

Youre talking about a vr headset worth more than £1k. That is not consumer friendly and is similar to buying an 8k tv. How many AAA are optimised for your 1k vr headset?
Formula for happiness. Buy rift cv1 for couple of hundred pounds on ebay, buy NMS and dozens other amazing VR games. And you will be happy.
Lucky I bought it this morning cos the price has gone back up now
