In resident evil 4, special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier instalments in the series. Leon battles horrific new creatures infested by a new threat called Las Plagas and faces off against an aggressive group of enemies including mind-controlled villagers that are tied to Los Illuminados, the mysterious cult which is behind the abduction.

There is a two man team of modders doing an extensive overhaul of the textures(ALL of them) in this version of the game, and are fairly far along now. This isn't some amateur effort either, this is potentially the most impressive texture overhaul project we've ever seen before. They literally set out in Spain to capture photos of the real life objects and buildings that were used to model things in RE4. What they couldn't find they are equally building from scratch and are doing the most amazing job staying 99-100% faithful to the original texture designs. They are also fixing various visual issues/bugs and even adding all kinds of small touches like adding geometry onto flat surfaces that depicted 3d, entire new 3d models for certain things, new water shaders, minor lighting and shadow additions, etc.

The results are stunning and it's basically going to be an extensive remaster of the game. You can follow their progress here: re4hd.com/

I had the exact same problem, had to refund it. I was enjoying the setting, atmosphere and story but tank controls just feel so awful now, back in the day we didn't know any better but it just feels so clunky now. Try Revelations 2 (Rev 1 was awful) if you haven't, it's a fantastic RE game with proper controls.

Its strange because I really enjoyed RE4 on the GC and don't remember the controls/camera being like that. How times change....

I've played it to completion on GC. I did try sticking with this but couldn't put up with the camera, you just can't get the same kind of view as today's games.
I've also heard many complaints about the camera and controls, I would recommend using a controller if possible and you do get used to it after a while but it's weird how when it first came out this wasn't an issue , oh how times change

Seems like I'm an outlier here - the controls and camera really annoyed me when i was younger meaning i played maybe for an hour
