Great price! Voted hot

Btw - has anyone managed to resolve the "fgxrenderer11:present failed" error on Windows 10? (Tried many solutions from Googling but to no avail )
When it starts, do you select Direct X 9, Direct X 11 or Windows 8?

Don't select Windows 8 if you do, that causes all sorts of issues.
Good game. My only problem with it is after putting in 70 odd hours I don't know what to do differently. I feel I'm missing something. That said I definitely got my money's worth. Having brave new world is important

Awesome but I'm planning on getting a new laptop in the near future, if I install this on my current laptop now can I install it on the new one or is it one time use? Never used Steam before.
steam . you just login to your account .. all your purchase are linked to your account. You can even copy over your, or just tell it where the game directory is (normally D:steam/xxx
I like Civ generally but I think its run out of steam, a bit Alpha centauri was my favorite

You can install it on multiple computers, I use the same Steam account to play games on my laptop & desktop.
You can also share your games library with family members, though you can't both play at the same time (if the owner loads a game it bumps the shared user off).

I have the same problem since I formatted my computer. So bloody annoying as this is my favourite game
Great game let down by one huge flaw - the AI of the computer opponents is abysmal.
Is voidu reputable? Anyone used them before? Haven't heard of them before.

Just plan for a different victory. If you are 70 hours in, that is probably only about 4 or 5 games. So go for a science victory or domination etc. Try using a new random civ and explore their bonuses. Also if you haven't already, try the scenario mode. Some great shorter games in that!! 🏼

Thanks for replying I've tried all the options. I can get through the main menu and start a game, but it errors on the load screen. (It just says "Loading" and never gets to the end, and when you minimise you find the error box.) The last forum discussion I found on it was 2017 unfortunately, and no one seems to have solved it (at least, not with a solution that works for me).

Ugh I was so excited about finally getting round to doing a nice clean install and then playing Civ. It was my first install after firewall/antivirus.

I have the exact same problem as you. It used to work fine, then I did a clean install of windows, and hasn't worked since.
Ive heard the one unit per tile rule makes combat a bit of a chore and that the AI struggles with it.

I know there are fans who prefer one game to the other, but whats it like going from Civ 4 to 5? Will experience of playing 4 help learning the game mechanics of 5?

It will massively help/ If you are anything like me, it took a few games to get the swing of it. However I now think 5 is so much superior to 4, that I couldn't go back. I'm finding the leap to 6 too much, so trying to stick with 5

I think when I installed Windows, I installed the 32 bit, rather than 64 bit. I am going to do another fresh install, and see whether that works.

Ok cool! Let me know if you have any luck? I'll let you know if I find anything else too.

Used them for the first time myself and all seems fine. Received the code straight away which activated in Steam perfectly. Just use a credit card for extra protection. 27p Quidco tracked as well
Voted hot but wish I had voted cold as order was rejected despited ordering from their site in the past.

I did a fresh install of Windows last night, and it fixed the problem. Therefore I am putting my problem down to previously installing Windows 32 bit. No idea why it choose that version of 64. It defo works on the 64 bit version though

Thanks for letting me know!

Actually I tried installing it yesterday on my x64 laptop (instead of my x86 tablet) and it also works fine! So I'll try a x64 install on my tablet too.
