The Humble GameMaker Rebundle
Bundles are the source of all awesomeness. And the GameMaker bundle was so awesome, we decided to bring it back. Grab a collection of software, games, and source files to help you realize your most ambitious game dreams!

Pay what you want. Normally, the total cost for these games and GameMaker: Studio licenses is as much as $1,687. Here at Humble Bundle, though, you choose the price!

Check out the system requirements. There's software here, as well as games! Some of it is DRM-free, but some of it isn't – and some of it is available on Steam, too. Pay $1 or more to access Steam keys. Prior to purchasing, please check out the bundle's system requirements here and GameMaker: Studio's system requirements here.

Support charity. Choose where the money goes – between the developers, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), SpecialEffect, and, if you'd like, another charity of your choice via the Paypal Giving Fund. If you like the bundle or like what we do, you can leave us a Humble Tip too!

Handy for anyone that didn't get them last time
Have any well known games ever been made using GameMaker?
Shaun Spalding has also created some excellent tutorials on youtube:

I bought these at the previous sale, and they are decent enough if you want to try making mostly 2D games. Just be aware that this is version 1.4 of Gamemaker and the current version is 2 - so if you get serious about using it, it could prove expensive ;-)

Bumps was the 1st commercial game made with gamemaker I believe and was also ported to iOS using gamesalad which made the top 20 in the US.

The devs (yes I'm one of them) also have a huge collection of source code for sale on GSHelper if your looking to develop a mobile game it's worth checking out.

170 games and templates source code.

Can someone tell me the difference between Gamemaker Studio and Gamemaker Studio: Pro? If you want to produce games for various platforms it seems like you still need to purchase the modules, i.e if you want a HTML5 based game you need the HTML5 add-on, or the iOS or Android one. These are available in the top tier but it seems GMSP is fairly useless without it.

Gamemaker 1 (the free version) had limitations on the number of rooms, objects, etc..
Gamemaker 1 Pro does not.
You can compile to create a Windows version of your program.
(Gamemaker 2 does not let you compile to Windows in free version, just run the program in a test window)

The expansions are used to compile to non-windows platforms.
If you only want to create Windows programs, then the expansions are not required.

You can also use these 1.4 versions (still being supported) to get a cheaper upgrade for the same expansions in Version 2. yoyogames.com/get

I have both and am still using 1.4 at the moment. I find the V2 interface to be cluttered - have to swap over eventually.

One advantage of buying this is a cheap way to upgrade.
Each expansion you have can be upgraded cheaper if you have the 1.4 version.
If you were thinking about buying a V2 expansion you don't already own on the 1.4 version, this is the way to go.
(same applies if you wish to buy Version 2 now - use this to get upgrade price for main program)

Buy this bundle and use the upgrade price (until 31/08/17)

True but apparently it's only supported until the end of August 2017. I don't know what they mean by support, hopefully it only means they won't update the software but it might be that they remove all documentation etc.
hmm mixed opinion on this. If someone wants a dabble at gamemaking software then potentially good. However, with it firstly being unsupported the end of this month, and with the push to upgrade to 2 then and if they do remove all documentation etc as camaj commented, its a less attractive proposition.

While I'm unfamiliar with this app, I'm assuming that anything created with the software once you own it is royalty free.....I can't remember now what the other main contenders where.

I believe Unreal is fully free until you earned £xx,xxx then it was a percentage. Unity I believe was pay only at first but think that model has changed, Cryengine used to be pay at first IIRC, but not sure how the new Amazon model of that works out now

I doubt they will pull documentation, Gamemaker 8 (the version before gamemaker studio) was on the website quite a while after it was stopped. I think they will simply stop patching it or giving direct support for problems.
1.4 is still a capable program.

Yes, anything created is your and royalty free.

The Windows UWP. What difference is that to compiling normally? I'm assuming with going for the $1 bundle can develop for Windows no problem, including Windows 10. but the UWP adds ability to compile for the dedicated phones/tablets, for the MS Windows Store (as if anyone actually uses those things)....Unless it specifically adds xbox 360/xbone then can't really see much benefit on that one. I'm just wondering for my kids to dabble (and of course lose interest quickly I expect) that the $1 one prob be more than enough for them and can still compile and share for any PC with that
