good fun, been cheaper

Yeah about £3 for the gold pack at Christmas.

Multiplayer is very laggy btw as local machine hosting not server hosting. Also quite intensive for such an old game (it allegedly runs on the serious engine 3 which is cutting edge but only the enemy models look any different, environments look the same to me and yet it runs way worse than the original)

run worse? hardly a surprise, if ya PC is ancient then try the classic editions, as for the re-hashed version on the new engine you'll see even on the first episode the graphics have been pimped, episode 2 shows the greatest upgrade to graphics, but this is ment to be played on modern hardware so if it runs like cack its just saying ya pc is rubbish...lol as for laggy gameplay online, sure if you have friend with terrible pings or a poor upload speed, never have problems with it on mine. Also they upped the co-op multiplayer to 16 players from the classics 8, not sure if that was a good idea since the games way too overcrowed in co-op once you get to 16 players although ideal for deathmatches.

i have a capable pc, is it worth getting the original versions as well or shall i just get the double pack?

Well we played just three people on a decent adsl ISP (13 meg connection I believe) and it was awful. There are far better looking games that run better is my point on the visuals. Probably not worth getting the originals then if you are getting the new ones, it's more or less the same
