Trial the initial region of SteamWorld Dig 2 for five hours over at Origin.

For those who are yet to add it to their Origin library, the first game, SteamWorld Dig, is still available for free as an 'On The House' title: origin.com/gbr…use

"The trial's got a progress limit on it too, which I reached in less than 1 hour of installing it. Character level 3 or 4, and just after getting the explosives power to reach next region, black screen comes up saying Congratulations you've completed the trial."

Same, my faverite Switch game so far. Now we just need a follow up to Steamworld Heists!

Hot. This is even better than the first one, and can complete the game before your 5 hour trial is up.

Agreed!! I am far more interested in indies now as well and spent the weekend watching some YouTube videos. Not sure which to get. You played any others on the Switch?

Heard golf story is really good, that's next on my list. Stardews good too if your into that sort of thing.

I think you'll be hard pushed to complete this within 5 hours, I think I completed it in about 8-9 with some of the sidequests.
Howlongtobeat.com says 6.5 hours for the main storyline, so if you really rush it you may get in under 5.

Well that kind of sucks really.

Ive got it on the Switch and it’s ok, too short and quite easy. Not sure I’d play it through again though.

I was disappointed when I read of the progress limit and how quick you got there, but after playing it for over two hours I've found there's a lot of content available. Thanks to your info I left the guided quest line near to its ending and have had lots of fun experiencing the game's metroidvania-ness. I'll return to the game and see how far/much I can get within the trials confines and then I'll get around to playing the prequel

I do wish they'd mentioned other trial limitations rather than just time, e.g. Titanfall 2: "Call down your Titan and try two levels of Titanfall™ 2’s critically-acclaimed campaign mode", Unravel: "Get 10 hours to play the first level!". I can understand there being a progress limit and also that they may be trickier to describe in certain games (no "level 1"/ "level 2", keeping it spoiler free & succinct etc), but something would be appreciated.
