Cherry blacks.

Not tried cherry black. Supposedly quieter than the cherry reds in my keyboard.

Great deal.

Yes I've heard good things about the use of O rings. So you recommend them hen?.

The items you've linked to are sets with various sizes. Did you buy those?. Surely you'd need 150 odd pieces at the same size?

Have orings in my cm stealth red, can recommend.
And good price too. Some people consider the 7g is the best mechanical keyboard available. We'll, each to their own.
For the price it is a no brainer really.

Don't need it but just bought damn you hukd

Its lies. We dont 'endorse' anything, they [manufacturers] take photos, have a writer come up with some quotes and then put it on the box.

£52 for a keyboard?! They're less than £3 on eBay!!

Welcome to mech keyboards.
My last one was just short of £200.
Becomes an obsession for some.

Heat added purchased.

Wanted the black cherry keys but the Ozone, Corsair and Coolermaster keyboards were far more expensive than this, and tend to go with the red, blue, brown switches now although black available at a price exceeding this.

For this price it's a steal - quality keyboard, you can remove the hard plastic wrist support if required but why would you?

Cheaper than the 6g

The lack of back lighting is a plus point to me - one less thing to go wrong, because the corsair mech keyboard suffer from backlight problems on the keys after time

Ive been using a Cherry mechanical keyboard since 2001.
I use my keyboard more than most people use a keyboard, as I am a programmer and formerly a gamer.
This 13 yr old keyboard (and Cherry keys, which the keyboard in this thread uses) has never missed a beat.
There is a HUGE difference between the keyboards sold by Logitech and Microsoft (and all the other cheap keyboards) and a mechanical keyboard. Some keyboards sold by big brands are not worth more than £4. Mech keyboards are worth every bit of their expensive price tag.

Its like comparing a Bugatti Veyron with a Hyunda i10.

I find Cherry Black too heavy for proper typing - I have black, red, brown and other switching types as well (Alps, Topre, IBM buckling spring and a strange knockoff thing by Zalman that's like a slightly heaver Cherry Red). It's a personal preference thing but I found the Cherry Black to be too tiring for long typing periods; noise-wise it's the same as the reds, they bottom out in the same linear fashion. FWIW I have found that membrane keyboards give me significant problems, I get an irritation in my fingers from a lot of typing; I can't go back, I take my own keyboards into work and have a number at home.

Looks a little like a super star destroyer:

Well my keyboard arrived today (I paid for 1 day delivery) and I must say that it is very nice to use. It feels completely different to my previous keyboard (sidewinder x4) and is really nice to the touch.
The wrist rest may look like an idiotic thing, but it's really very comfortable. I also like the amount of resistance in the keys, I mainly use the pc for gaming (FPS/MMO) and think that the black switches are ideal for that.

Feel's like a substantial piece of kit that will last me a long time. And if anyone is wondering about build quality, I found this video

Great price for this keyboard. I think the only negative is the really small backspace key.

...and the overly bright status lights

Steelseries Mechanical keyboards are great if you like Cherry black, I was using the Steelseries 6Gv2 a couple months ago. The only problem I have with steelseries is their support. My R key stopped working around 3 months ago and after many cockups (on their side), I've still not received my 6Gv2 back yet.

But for the price, this is a great keyboard, if you don't mind the large arm rest piece. I would prefer the 6Gv2 because it doesn't have it!

Just so you are aware, the armrest is not attached to the keyboard, it just slots over the top as an extra.

Sorry, I forgot I only have 88 keys to do and I haven't bothered with the F-keys and probably some others. I do recommend o-rings though, still noise but more thump than click. I have a few of those 419 piece kits hanging around (used to sell them) so it seemed silly for me to buy the o-rings made specifically for this purpose when they were like £15.

Two of the sizes fit perfectly on the round post on underside of the keycaps and another two are too big for that but work perfectly well if you drop them on the switch below, they're loose but they contact the right bits to dampen noise.

And the rest of the o-rings in the kit have other purposes: Blocking that annoying light on the Creative T40 speakers for example:

You can get them cheaper at 99p from Hong Kong but these should arrive faster based in the UK have 100% feedback and complete with key pullers

Overclockers want £10

How did you know I spilled a glass of Pepsi max into my old keyboard and needed a new one I sense spies on this site.
Don't forget Quidco.

Personally I got a Corsair K90 with Cherry MX reds and blue back lighting for £51 (although it was a refurb it was in brand new condition IMO) I don't really think this is that great, doesnt even look nice and the palm rest looks far too big

The reason it was probably a refurb is because of the back lighting hope you have a good warranty on the refurb imho

Yeah a few people said they had 1 led not working, mines still going strong 6 months later and I have confirmed with Corsair they will honour the full 2 year warranty so its all good

I'm feeling the urge to go back to using my IBM Model M keyboard, and to hell with the complaints from my wife :-p

(she's the only reason I'm not using it all the time)

I have a £4.99 low profile keyboard and love it, find it very hard to go back to high profile keyboards, even mechanical.
Also laptops come with low profile. I usually use Thinkpads (with the classic keyboard).

Not sure why some pay so much for these, but each to their own.
