Had my eye on these for a while, usually £85. Was going to get the cheaper Arctis 3 but these are even cheaper than those as well now, by almost £20. White version available at same price as well.

Or in laymans terms, "Decent headphones with a mic"

Not a fan of 7.1 for gaming or well anything it just makes audio sound tinny and unnatural.

I have had loads of headsets and in my experience a good stereo pair is always better then a 7.1 pair.
been really debating to get the the wireless 7's but held off then price went back up I am really procrasstinating

It's software based 7.1, still two drivers, so it's fake 7.1. Nothing stopping you just using them in stereo.

I've only just ordered mine and never had a Steelseries headset before, but I've read good things so I'm looking forward to testing them out when they arrive on Thursday.

The 7.1 is terrible you will be using stereo. These are some of the comfiest headsets you can buy i had these but i would skip the wired version and go for the wireless version.
Save your money and dignity and spend the same amount of cash on a decent pair of regular headphones and a mic attachment. These "gaming" headsets are just regular headphones rebranded with some RGB lights and the bass turned up to 11. Even the 100 quid+ gaming headsets with good reviews and only good because they're based on 100 quid+ regular headphones, but with a markup.
I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD579s for a similar price to this and they sound miles better for gaming than any gaming headsets I've tried. Plus bonus points for looking stylish and not making you look like a Christmas tree when you have it on.

Can you recommend a 'mic attachment' to work with my sennheisers? I thought the same as you and bought a mic separate but ended up being crap.

Antlion Modmics are ok and will go wirh pretty much every headset.

If the cable is removable the vmoda boompro is a really nice solution as it shares the same cable.

Pretty sure you don't have to use 7.1, at least on PC.

I would go for a USB DAC or sound card and put some proper headphones there. I use a USB sound blaster and my normal headphones there

Sounds like some cost to that! Fair enough if it's worth it, but never had an issue with my wireless Skull Candy Plyr 1's, enough to think of adding a soundcard/DAC.

Will look into it

Browsing amazon I saw this. I think it's amazing for the price and would suit you nicely (amazon.co.uk/gp/…e_3?smid=AK4SPTLXEI07L&psc=1)
Its an usb soundcard with speaker and you can plug on your own headphones. Well worth the 20 pounds... Was 80 when. It came out

Something like this maybe?

Or the Antlion ModMics but I think there might well be the same issues with built-in soundcards reading the reviews

Yea same for me, hoping they will drop back down in the January sales.

I don't think the acrtis 5 is worth going for, if your going wired then get a good quality audio headset and micmod or free standing mic such as a snowball (got mine for £10 from gumtree) if you want wireless then the 7 is going to tick all the right boxes there.
