Help please!!! I'm sick of not being able to use my current headset (PC+PS4 Astro A50's) on both platforms (PS4 & Xbox One) for full surround sound support and Voice chat abilities together. It seems impossible to find enough info about gaming headsets "meant for consoles" to know if even these very expensive types of supposedly "Multi-Platform" headsets that retail for over £150, sometimes even £200^ actually support full 7.1 surround sound with Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Ps4, PS4 Slim and Ps4 Pro...
Is there anywhere to find out detailed specs/breakdowns of most of the top headsets, to see what ones truly do work with both chat and surround sound?

...Also is this the cheapest it has been before? I feel like this has been well over £200 every time I've seen it anywhere, So expensive but looks like a sensual headset to be honest!

I don't know I use mine on PC, search on google theres plenty of reviews and articles on the console platforms. That being said this headset at this price is an amazing deal IMO. Good luck

It looks reallllyyy comfy, soo tempted hahaha, but I've literally just bought a PS4 slim last night in work with discount, and discovered on youtube that my new slim doesnt have an optical audio port for me to use my £140 astro a50 headset (bare in mine though that the regular fat ps4 does have the port, which i find idiotic), so now i will have to buy an adapter for around £30 supposedly, it's never ending the money I'm having to spend just to talk to my mates and have a great sounding headset for 2 consoles simultaneously! Wireless too would be a bonus, I hated the massive wire on my old turtle beach x12's curling up all over my bedroom floor hahaha

I picked up the cheaper Arctis 7 for $100 a couple of days ago, and while looking at reviews/comparisons I did read through this comparison: reddit.com/r/s…ip/

TL;DR:

  • Multiple Inputs and Outputs - This is a big deal if you want to use [the Siberia 840] with multiple systems (PC and Console) and not have to connect/reconnect. It also has some great features such Optical In/Optical Out so you can put the base station in your home theatre area and connect it to an AV receiver as well when not using the headphones.

  • Multi-Channel Audio Support on Consoles. The Siberia 840 can decode Dolby Digital 5.1 bitstream via it's [sic] optical connection. Xbox One and PS4 do not send multi-channel audio via USB. So, to put this plainly: if multichannel audio is a must for console usage, you're better off with the Siberia 840.

Just saw your edit, I cant see why 7.1 and chat capabilities should be an issue, this headset comes with loads of wires including 2 xbox controller wires. heres a copy of the owners manual manualslib.com/man…e=6, sorry I cant be of more help. Also this is definitely the cheapest I've seen it for and would recommend purchasing at this price. I bought for £209.99 lol and I'm happy at that price. Its stand out feature for me is the the lag free wireless with the addition of bluetooth. It makes the headphones a bit more versatile making it a bit easier to justify the higher price point.

Thanks for sharing, I just learnt something new about my headset!

Good price for a very good headset. It's an upgrade of the 800(which was also named the Wireless H) if you're looking for reviews. I have this model and can say it's quality set of headphones from a company with great customer service/support

These comments are really making me want to buy these but I detest Curry's customer service haha, is there a way for me to get this price matched by a more trustworthy/reliable retailers do you think guys? Or if I wait for it to come down in price, will it drop a bit more in the next year do any of you think? Or is this like up there as the FLAGSHIP console gaming headset so just buy it asap haha!

I love these

Generation 3 A50's are platform specific for chat. I emailed them about it and it's impossible for them to work cross platform because they have licence agreements with Sony and Microsoft for the wireless chat to work. However the ones posted will work cross platform. The Steal Series were going to be the ones I got instead of the A50's until argos had the gen 2 A50's for £130 and got them instead. However for this price the Steal Series are and absolute steal, no pun intended.

Nice 1 for all the info, really appreciate it, the image/s won't work though, my phone is p00, i'll use the laptop once my brother is finished with it later, very tempted. Currys won't be a minute scumbagging me though if i come across any issues, polar opposite of argos/asda or other retailers, i can take faulty goods back to argos and know full well that it will be refunded or replaced with a new one if it wasnt fit for purpose. BUT in currys, they try to argue the toss with me and make out they know more than i do, etc... in my experience, it's like they employ the people with awful customer serivce on purpose so people avoid trying to go into their stores for refunds etc.. since they cba dealing with the stress of it.

No worries. I doubt you'll get them cheaper than this, the issue you'll have is finding somewhere that sells them in store. You could look for 800's which are the same minus Bluetooth. Unless you plan on connecting them to your phone etc Bluetooth isn't really needed. If it's just a gaming or audio headset the 800 is perfect. They're cheaper than the 840 but even then you'd struggle to find 800's for less than this. Honestly I'd take the risk with Curry's poor CS. IMO the risk of something going wrong is low, they aren't Turtle Beach .
I don't need them as I have Sennheiser headset and Astro Mix amp but for this price I'm considering it, just because of the price.

I have a lot of experience with these headsets, you will get good customer service going directly to SteelSeries. Unfortunately the quality control is sometimes a bit lacking but usually they just send out a replacement without any quarrel. As an example I actually started off with a wired Siberia Elite and after 2 RMAs they let me keep the Elite and sent a H Wireless (old version of this) which was worth 3x the price. Then when one of the batteries failed and they couldn't send me a new battery they just sent me a whole new headset!

Word of warning if you don't use the headset frequently or you go away for an extended period (say on holiday) then don't leave a spare battery in the charger as I've had 2 expand on me.

Wow thats really making me want to get it, sounds brilliant by steelseries that! Nothing they can do about defected ones i suppose but giving you a new one for free and letting u keep the old one, thats like something out of a sci-fi movie haha the world we live in now, never seems to be one where you get something for nothing. Was there a specific way you went about asking for their help? Polite and saying please could you sort this out for me? Or like full on, i'm going to sue you until you go bust?

Just raised tickets through their online support system. It used to be that their only RMA centre in Europe was in Holland so sending things there was expensive. I sent the first headset back at my own cost and then when the replacement was faulty I asked if I had to send it back, they said no. The replacement was the better wireless one Then after something like 2 years use I had one of the batteries die on me, they couldn't ship individual batteries (some law or something) so they sent me another headset + batteries Later still I ended up with another dodgy battery, but now they are able to ship batteries so they sent me 2 replacements. So I've ended up with two wireless headsets

Not saying that you will end up in the same situation as me so don't buy one on the promise you will be showered with gifts, but at least know their customer service isn't complete toss like some companies

Yeah i understand, seems like your circumstances were unique like, but biying from reliable companies gives you alot more confidence that if you do come across any issues, it's likely that they'll try to remedy it for you
