In the case of Stephen King, hardly ever

Mmmmmm...I'm on the fence with that one, if you'd have asked me 20 years ago I'd have agreed with you completely...these days, either I'm choosier about what I read or films are just a lot better...they both have their merits.
A superb story, but spoiled (imo) by a faintly ridiculous denouement. Ignore that, and the rest is sheer brilliance.

I agree. The only 2 movies imo that have done SK books justice are The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption...... apart from them its mostly 'made for tv' films.

I thought Cronenbergs The Dead Zone was a fantastic effort too.

Probably about 30 years since i've seen it..... i cant remember now whether i rated it or not.
When i get a chance, i'll give it another watch.
Been waiting for this this thanks OP (they drop it down every so often - the publisher). £13+ in store.

Interested to see what they do with Dark Tower.

Salem's Lot was good but not that close to the book and not really a film. Interested to see what they do with The Dark Tower.

The film Pet Sematary is more scarier than the book.

I would say that across his career I have struggled with King's endings, they are the weakest parts of many of his books - The Stand, IT, Under The Dome (really, really bad) etc. - The Mist is still his best effort IMO.

The book blows the film right out of the water, much more to it, and much more explained and yet unseen (if you've read the book you'll know what I mean).

If a book was made into a film word for word the film would be 6 days long. The film covered all the main points of the book and does it justice. It's not more explained, the phrase you're looking for is 'fleshed out'. Look into it. (You should have been able to tell that I have read the book).

I personally hold Pennywise (the clown) responsible for me **** myself as a child.

He was a personal friend of my fathers and we popped round to his house one weekend. In anticipation he'd made a (Tim) Curry. However i suspect he'd used poor quality, potentially spolied meat. I felt belly gurgling but never anticipated the carnage that ensued when I gave in and chanced a danger-fart.

From that day forth Ive never been to a circus.

To be fair, the children had named and created the Pet Sematary to bury their dead pets.

No, no, I know what I'm talking about, if you've misinterpreted it then that's your problem.

Surely 'the shining', 'stand by me', 'Carrie', 'Running Man' and 'Misery' can't be classed a 'sub par' or 'made for T.V.'?

But I always thought the made for T.V. IT movie was poor, and I hope the new one does justice to the book.. IMHO
Wow yeah forgot about Stand By Me. One of my favourite films. Misery is a pretty good adaptation too.

Do you know you keep spelling cemetery wrong? Also in your first post "more scarier" really? You don't need the word "more" in there at all. I'm not sure what you have been reading but my seven year old nephew would pull you up on your grammar. Stick to your comics...

If you were intelligent enough to read the book 'Pet Sematary' you won't be saying this. You're looking like a right mug now. Please don't even reply to me as you clearly need to go back to Biff and Chip. Better yet, sit there watching your nephew read.

This was 99p back in September, but heavily discounted Stephen King e-books don't come round very often, so heat from me. I'm still waiting for 'End of Watch' to come down to a reasonable price - I refuse to pay £9.99 for a Kindle book!
Thank you!
Just received a £1 promotional credit for buying this, so effectively I've made a profit!

Don't. The film is rubbish compared to the book.
