...for a start i thouhg it read stolen!! was wondering who was selling STOLEN cakes!!!

No cream? looks a bit dry to me. ;-)

No cream - doesn't need it cos it has marzipan running thru the middle. Try it toasted with butter on for a real calorific gut buster!

Last year this was £1.49. Not too bad considering how much milk and eggs have gone up.

Been in the store for a few weeks.
Had one from Lidl last year and it was very good.
Aldi do a good one as well for the same price.

Lol heat and rep added cos your statement made me laugh.

If you think so... try drizzling it with a little Amaretto! Very indulgent - really has an extra almond hit then
(Also good as the base of a trifle done this way too)

Lidl Amaretto is about £7.99 currently I think, but it might be cheaper.

Stollen is fab - the picture posted doesn't do it justice (no marzipan running through the centre). Lidl ones are great, the marzipan is especially moist! The big supermarkets charge between £3.50 and £4.00 for these, so the price is hot!

Bloody shoplifters who have got so low & decided to steal from Lidl for cakes. Cheap sods & they forgot the teabags.

It's funny you should say that but you need to look again. I was in the Asda in Livingstona and saw stollen on display and went over to pick it up, it was marked as over £10

I thought I was seeing things until one of my mates asked me if I had seen the price of the stollen in Asda.

I cant remember the make of the stollen but I was tempted to buy it just to find out if it was gold-plated.

Lidl's stollen is lovely as are the german spiced biscuits and lebkuchen they sell.

I was actually in Germany last week on a Christmas present/booze run and couldn't find stollen anywhere so a big thumbs up and heat added

I just made my own Stolen and for one loaf (including home made marzipan) it probably cost me about £15 in ingredients. Tbf there is stuff left over to make more (like a lot of marzipan) but I reckon it must cost about £8 to make a single loaf so this is hot (and probably tastes as good too

I don't think you can advertise this here, maybe try again in a week without telling people where you got it.

Usually get given one from work but looks like I'm gunna have 2 buy my own, but at that price I'll probably get 2

We have Stollen every year now thanks to Lidl, love it

Outta stock in Tonbridge - was in there yesterday - no more stock expected!

If you don't have a Lidl, or they are out of stock try Aldi I think they are just as nice as the Lidl one and same price, give or take a few pennies... scrummy indeed, nicer I think than traditional Christmas cake, oh dear I think I feel a cuppa and a slice of stollen coming on now...lol

I went into my Lidl last week looking for Stollen 'cause I buy some there every year, but they didn't have any.
Guess I'll have to go back and have another look.

The pictures shows a much nicer Stollen, not the one from Lidl. Where did you get this from?

Glad you said that as I bought mine this year from Aldi to see if it was as good as the one I bought from Lidl last year. .
That was the first time I'd ever had stollen, and thought it was very good.

Bet these sell like hot cakes

That is NOT traditional Stolen it looks more like fruit cake with a bit of icing sugar on top.

stollen sold out a helston. Did buy some cheap onions and lloyd grosman sauces though. And a panetone cake for 2.50 which is ok though not the same. Oddly they had lots of those but were sold out of stollen
