Well the wife doesn't like tick tocking clocks they drive her insane yet we really need some clocks in the house so had a look around, had a search on HUKD first and saw this clock was posted several months ago. It's gone up by 5p since then but I'm going down IKEA for a few of these on the weekend. A silent clock to give me a quiet life gets a thumbs up from me. Thought I'd share incase others need this in their life.

£3.95 typical delivery if no IKEA near you.

"No disturbing ticking sounds since the clock has a silent quartz movement.

Highly accurate at keeping time as it is fitted with a quartz movement.

Batteries are sold separately; 1pc LR6 AA 1.5V required.

We recommend using alkaline batteries in the clock."

Maybe you misheard when she said she needed some clocks in the house.
White numbers on a white background, getting a job in the ikea design team must be so easy
I hate clocks. They're a constant reminder of how I'm wasting my life endlessly browsing hukd.
Mine is silent but they are quite clearly very cheaply constructed so I can quite believe quality control isn't exactly high.

If silence is important to you I would recommend the following.

1. Take an AA battery to IKEA.
2. Put it in one of the hundreds of clocks they have stacked up.
3. Clear your throat and say "Excuse me everyone, I'm just testing this clock. Can you all be silent for thirty seconds please."
4. Make irritable shushing noises at anyone who mutters about "anal losers".
5. Repeat until you find a silent clock.

If you are a bit timid about asking for silence you could wait until November and coincide your testing with the Poppy Remembrance two minute silence.

Gota lov Ikea ..... moving away from flat packs !
Hear for the fact it's Silent!
Have this in the spare room. It's got a sweeping movement instead of ticking so a lot quieter. Not bad for a spare room clock.
Get a clock without the second hand and it will be silent wont it ?
Very unfortunate name: but for one 'M'.............................!
Looks like it might be a bit difficult to read the digits...

I bought a clock like this for the bedroom, but not this exact model - with a continuous motion, rather than the tick - but it's still equally annoying, just a different sort of noise. In the middle of the night the noise is still annoying. I swapped all my clocks for LCD Digital - now there's no noise of any type.

I personally won't be using it in the bedroom, so don't forsee an issue with a little hum. But can i ask, how do you find the white numbers on the face? Is it relatively easy to make out the time at a glance.
Have one - smooth second hand sweep & silent. Very good have one in the kitchen

What good is that during the day? duh

I have these all over my house, some are totally silent and some make a tiny noise. Regards white numbers I just coloured them all in using sharpies to match the room they are in. Also took the mechinism out and swapped it with the mechinism on a clock i love but was too noisy now its silent - thrilled

No. It's down to the mechanism not the hands.
That's a great price even if you only want the mechanism to repair an existing clock.
I saw these in Ikea today, a pretty tacky looking cheapo clock i thought, not sure id want them round the house. As others have said take the movement out and put it inside a better looking clock.

Bought 3, whilst all don't tick they still make enough rattling turning noise that I use them in the Garage and kitchen.
front plastic easily comes off to allow you to use a couple of sharpies to colour in the numbers, personalised now and the kids love it

"ANAL losers" How can you lose something like that.
1. It's ALMOST silent
2. Really good value for money
3. I paint the numbers using a Sharpie.....endless possibilities. Or 4 possibilities if you only have 4 Sharpies
4. The seconds hand sweep is very smooth, like on a good Rolex
5. Did I mention it's almost silent?
I have this, from a previous posting(£1.77??) .. originally WAS silent, but a definite mechanical noise after a while.
White on white is a bit pants...unless you pop the (plastic) glass off(quite easy), and marker pen the digits, does give options on room colour matching.
Mine stopped working after renewing battery(tried several!)...was the connections to internal gubbins..lot of a faff, but working currently...

Love this clock. Completely silent in my bedroom and easy to decorate it to match the room

Funnily enough my partner and I were wondering if silent clocks existed. Will purchase this for an Airbnb we are building! Thank you OP!
This thread has quite unexpectedly made me chuckle...
