i5 quad core and 8GB of RAM with SSD storage.

A pretty good deal if you need Windows to do your basic tasks. That said, the battery on this would be terrible compared to a similarly-priced-but-new Chromebook. If your basic tasks can be done on a Chromebook then I'd rather get a Chromebook instead.

Let me clarify: no the Chromebook probably isn't as fast or any cheaper than the refurb deal here. But you're not gonna buy this laptop as your desktop replacement. For that, you should get a used Dell Optiplex instead, which will run laps around the laptop for even cheaper. But then the battery on these laptops are probably not that good. If you have to do basic tasks on Windows on the go that a Chromebook can't do (and they're basic tasks so it doesn't matter if the Chromebook is a bit slower), then buy the Windows laptop, but keep in mind that the battery life on it won't match a new Chromebook. A half decent laptop. Not really that far off the high ranking Matebook new offer in terms of speed, both being dual core.

Compared to the Matebook. Ok considering there seems to be no gas guzzling turbo mode.
