Is this also a NAS? If not surely you would have to plug it into your PC, download your stuff, unplug it, pick it up, carry it to your TV, plug it in and repeat each time you added more stuff...not exactly cutting edge convenience that I would expect for this price.

Just my 2 cents

can you copy compressed DVDs on to this to watch on TV ?

or do they have to be converted to a different format first ?

thanks

What can you get for this price that does the job you mean?
can i download files of say rapidshare, convert them using Winrar and then copy them directly over to this. Presumably it would then play the movies/tv straight to the TV? Does the size of tv affect the quality, as i ahve a 42" plasma!
Thanks

I wouldn't bother personally. If you really want a device that does this kind of thing, aim for a Freecom 350 / 350 WLAN / 450 WLAN. Got a 350WLAN myself, and even though you'll pay around £50 more, you'll get high definition output, wired network connection (wireless on WLAN models), optical audio output, simple skin-able menus, and I have yet to find anything that doesn't play on it! Will come back if I find a good price for one. Got mine for £105 for the kit itself, and £35 for a 300GB IDE Drive to go in it.
