Saw these in the offer baskets as you enter a store. Unlike the standard polystyrene version these have a hard plastic shell around them so they last longer.

The one's without the shell are about £3.50 at Ebay for a Kingfisher version or £4.50 for stormguard at Amazon but for a little bit more the plastic cover is worth getting as it will then last a lot lot longer.

Only paid £1 for a white one from Lidl last year

Will an old towel inside a couple of carrier bags not do?

I'm thinking the free bubble wrap that you normally get with delivered parcels + some parcel tape for the Winter season then throwaway once the weather picks up. Far much cheaper.

these are also only any good if your tap has a straight pipe out of the wall. If your pipe comes out of the wall and then leads off in any sort of direction then theses are useless as the pipes wont be covered

Safer just to turn the tap off - not sure I use the tap in the winter anyway.

Like I said it doesnt have the plastic shroud over the poly. my old poly one disintegrated and my bubble wrap temp cover shredded in the wind

my tap also has a pipe so i cut a snug slot in this cover in seconds and fitted 15mm pipe cladding for 92p on the pipe. simples.
Sadly the moron who fitted the tap never fit an isolator for it

So some of your pipe is exposed still? That deems this useless
