Story Cards by Brainbox - Aldi (instore and online) - £2.29

Anyone familiar with Story Cubes will know about these. The concept is to select some cards at random and use them as stimulus to create stories. A great way for really young children to verbally tell stories and older children to write them.

55 well illustrated cards per pack organised by colours (yellow is setting, green character, white emotion etc.)

I have seen the original pack for £7.99 on Argos and one of the others for a similar price on Amazon.

    Great find op
Thanks OP. My sons a bit young but purchased the original set for an Xmas present and we will try early next year or when he’s ready to use it. Perfect price and delivered to your door is spot on! Think ALDI are brilliant.

How old is your son? I've started Story Cubes with my 3 year old. He rolls them and tries to talk about them and link them. Then we build up a story and I go away and draw them into a book step by step.

I feel these Story Cards will be more young child friendly though as the pictures are more detailed and bigger. The cubes work better with much older children, I find.
I paid £9 for story cube not long ago, but this deal is better in price and quality.

I have both. The story cubes are way better quality! The cards will wear and bend over time.

I have both too. I think the both have they plus and negative points which is exactly why I bought both for my son.

Hi he is 2 in August and as the box said 3+ I thought as a guide to see how they would be for him around Xmas! Got nearly all his Birthday and Xmas presents already so feel super organised! Thanks again, this is a brilliant price and good value. Will have to see about them a bit earlier then, as with most things you have to judge what is best for them as each child develops differently. Do ALDI have a version of the cubes you talk about?

Sounds like a great idea to get so organised. Children can surprise you with development though. I don't think I go by age recommendations any more, as you say it all depends on the child.

Aldi don't stock Story Cubes but yesterday I noticed my Tesco does. They are still £9.99 a box (which is what I paid some 4 or 5 years ago). Never seen them reduced. They do a few varieties as well as licensed stuff, such as Batman and Moomins, but I've stuck to the three main sets. The website is worth a look. There's also an app. I think it's £1.49 and includes the original 9 dice and then £1.49 per set after that.
