Get ready to rule the ring with Street Fighter V: Champion Edition!

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition includes all content (excluding Fighting Chance costumes, brand collaboration costumes and Capcom Pro Tour DLC) from both the original release and Street Fighter™ V: Arcade Edition. Champion Edition adds each character, stage and other content that released after Arcade Edition and will include all launch content coming to this new version. In total, this robust edition of Street Fighter V features 40 characters, 34 stages and over 200 costumes. Fighters can battle their way through a variety of exciting single-player and multi-player modes designed for players of all skill levels, including Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Team Battle, Ranked Match, Casual Match and more.

Champion Edition also heralds the return of Gill, the leader of the Secret Society and the end boss of the Street Fighter™ III series. Gill is a master of both pyrokinesis and cryokinesis, allowing him to control fire and ice with perfect elemental balance (hence his outward appearance). Typically plotting behind the scenes, Gill is now ready to reveal himself to the world, as he sets out to fulfill the prophecy that the Secret Society has coveted since ancient times.

Thanks OP but I might wait for the inevitable Ultra Street Fighter V Arcade Turbo Champion Edition
When Capcom first released SFV in absolutely shoddy form, no arcade mode, bare bones, etc they promised they would not release any more versions of it.

And here we are after the Arcade Edition with the Champion Edition
Nothing wrong with the deal, especially for those who wanna buy SFV and haven't yet dived in but Fighting games represent some of the worst aspects of modern gaming. This is a prime example
Personally I will wait for the Super Ultra Super Street Fighter V Arcade Super Duper Turbo Champion Plus Edition.

Shouldn't really be surprised this is Capcom after all.

I do have a question though: Will the extra content be on the disc or just a dlc code in the box? I'm going to guess it's the latter...

Street Fighter 2 is one of my favourite games ever and I've bought countless versions but it's got to the point now with multiple season passes and extra paid content that I'm done with the franchise.

When they move on to 6 and start flogging that like a dead horse, I'll pick up the complete version of 5.

I did that with Ultra Street Fighter 4 on last gen. It became a very robust game but with Capcom you never know which will be the 'definitive' version. I'm tempted by this version and suspect it will be the last iteration on the current crop of consoles before they move onto 6 for next gen. Are they still pushing out new DLC for it beyond this release though?

Ultimately the problem for me - if it was 'everything' I'd buy it in a heartbeat but almost inevitable that there'll be more after...hell, there's preorder bonuses for a start. I'm not into multiplayer gaming or tournament play etc, so continuing to pay out for extra content is just not viable....I just want a final version with all the characters to play offline.
This serves as both outstanding value for money, and a colossal slap in the face for fans who paid £40 for the 16-character base game.

Hopefully this model implodes. Like others, I’m completely done buying beat ‘em ups (whether it’s Tekken or Dragon Ball or Injustice or Mortal Kombat) until the inevitable Ultimate Edition.

Completely agree with you, it's the same for me - I'd only play this offline as well (I'm not that skilled at Street Fighter when it comes to competitive play so don't enjoy the online component).

Lol, I'm still waiting on the super turbo hyper fighting version, it's no good if it doesn't have the speed.
Good price but I'm waiting to see if the DLC is on disc or a code before buying. Made that mistake with Arcade Edition and returned it sealed. DLC on disc or no sale.

Yeah I hate the dlc BS we now have to put up with. It goes for most games not just beat em ups. But its a cash spinner for those greedy devs/publishers who are releasing half complete games then charging a fortune in dlc content to enable you the privilege of playing the full version. I never buy games on release, nor would I ever pay rrp

That's not really fair or accurate, if you bought the original 2016 release that will be updated to Champion Edition. You just won't gain free access to new characters, costumes, colours and stages.

(I've only spent £8.75 over four years to unlock an additional 16 characters)

Third Strike > USF4 > Everything other SF game > SFV.

Honestly, not a big fan of SFV. Even competitive comps aren’t as hyped as they were with SF4.

Ultra SF IV had all of the extra content on the disc as far as I remember. Assume this would follow suit.

Yes you're correct it did, but I think SF V Arcade Edition had a download code (I could be mistaken) which makes me wonder if this version will do the same. I do hope it is on the disc though.

the SFV arcade edition had the code in the box. They didn't even change the artwork on the disc it was the standard SFV release disc.

I'll wait till you buy it in that case
Terrible retailer since they started refunding pre-orders to an account balance rather than the original payment method. Expect long waits on the phone to get your money back.
This is how SF5 should have been released. I did purchase this on PC last month and I am enjoying it but you would of thought Capcom would of learnt from SF4.
Hopefully the new street fighter won't suffer from this crappy sf5 business model.

Agreed, I waited to get the arcade version and that obviously wasn't even it's 'final form'. The amusing thing is that version just this week on my ps4 downloaded like a 24gb update. I mean, what? What on earth is taking up that much space in a patch in a fighting game, outrageous really.

They did listen and learn, the player base was not split across multiple versions. Hopefully SFVI uses the same model.
I'm going to hold off and wait for the release of Super street fighter V Ultra Championship edition

If you pay for your preorder in advance, they will refund it as store credit but to avoid any issues in the future, make sure you tick this box off when you are preordering anything from them. This way they don't take any money in advance and you can cancel anytime with no issues.

Capcom screwed up with the original release of SF5 but it has come a loooong way. If you want games to be maintained and to be balanced/rebalanced/have things added to it, then get used to this model. Development time and efforts cost money, and balancing is basically impossible as it is without trying to get it right on release and not touch it again. Not sure why this sort of thing is such a big issue for casual players of fighting games but not for things like Fallout or Witcher 3.

Meta games change (sometimes unexpectedly) and funding active development allows for these things to be kept in check (ideally). Tekken development on the whole (as an example) has radically changed for the better as a result of all this. Some of this money also goes towards maintaining and improving competitive scenes, itself a source of entertainment for some (not all).

The original Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 games had huge problems (and both eventually received updated re releases); SF Alpha 3's V-ism basically ruined the game competitively all on its own; 3rd Strike had Chun Li everything, and Yun's Genei Jin! Probably more examples of stupid stuff in otherwise fun fighting games that couldn't be or weren't promptly patched. We don't have to just accept and deal with that stuff anymore, thanks to this new model, even if it definitely isn't perfect.

The old school attitude of 'release all content on day 1' is obsolete for fighting games, it just doesn't make sense for the devs OR the players.
Incidentally - this is awesome value. Heat added
