Agreed checking that your child is still alive is so overrated.. how many pints of stupid did you drink tonight? as I think you're over the limit.

What could possibly go wrong with the baby while driving? This is very unnecessary.

Generations of children have survived without being constantly poked and prodded and checked every two minutes to see if they're alive. Manufacturers of idiotic devices like this are preying on peoples worst fears, which, fortunately, for the vast majority will never be realised.
You're probably more likely to cause an accident as you aren't paying attention to what your supposed to be doing - ie driving safely, and in so doing, protecting the sprog in the back. Or do you think the little princess on board sign in the back window has magical protective powers?

What could go wrong with your baby at home.. baby monitors a waste of time too? please do feel feel free to explain "necessary" though as your opposing reasoning is rather compelling.

May I ask what your recommended check time to confirm proof of life is?

mirrors have been about for thousands of years ... this is not the first one on my car .. if you're struggling with this I suggest upgrading from the model T ford to something more modern perhaps?

"You're probably more likely to cause... "

Stopped reading there as risk prevention is clearly not your strong suit

You are not very smart by comparing baby monitors to this useless thing. But as you bought this on yourself... Baby monitors are useless. A lot of people don't actually need them. But baby monitor is not only for safety purposes. Baby monitor lets you know if your child has woken up from sleeping or crying for attention (prob cos they be hungry).

But back to the original point... These devices are useless. Your child is most likely going to cry if something happened. Whether you have a mirror or not you will have to stop the car to check.

Unless you are super clumsy and have a tendency to lose things... This thing is not for you. Maybe you are the type of parent that leaves their kids behind at a restaurant and need to check this mirror...?
its a pointless invention... as long as baby is fed and happy and there is no objects baby can choke on.. i dont see the point of this .. its just a distraction.... keep eyes on the road...
I had one of these, was nice to know if your child was asleep or not, toys/soothers not been kicked on the floor.

Oh dear. What a sad person. Seeing as you've raised it, lets talk risk.

First, you identify any hazards there might be, in your case, possibly marauding dragons etc, and eliminate them where possible. Then identify and quantify the remaining risk level and decide whether you are prepared to accept the risk.

In your case, you're probably creating a greater risk to other drivers and your sprog by being paranoid, so stay at home, wrapped in cotton wool with your ryes fixed on the sprog and worry about it ever being out of your sight/hearing range.

Report dated 2006. Any stats to support this, because "Eight occurred while the infant was sleeping in a car safety seat in the home, and only one while the baby was in a seat in the car while being driven" isn't much support to your statement that "Car Seat Cot Death is a thing".
If you actually read the report, it's speaking about the position the baby's in, and that could occur anywhere, not just in a car seat. It also appears that the movement in a car may reduce the risk.

Surely a Car seat and a Cot are two different environments.

It's no clearer than saying "A Barbecue teapot scald"...

Even cot death or sudden infant death is pretty rare. So car seat death, if it exists, must be extremely rare. Only those who have money to waste would buy this.
