Tescos have a Towbar mounted Bike Carrier that carrys 3 bikes and is only £20. Bought this yesterday as needed one quickly and to be honest, it has exceeded my expectations, especially given its only £20. The plastic parts that the bike frames sit into are adjustable either backwards and forwards or left to right and then hold the bike with a rubber strap. This is very handy with modern bikes as the frames are not horizontal anymore. Lots of adjustments to hold any bike. All in all for £20 its pretty good. Solidly held 3 full size mountain bikes no problem, just put them on and strapped them together. Don't think this is an offer price or incorrect price, just a cracking price for what it is.

No Probs. For £20 I was dubious, but it has done what it says very well.

dont forget you will need a lightboard with number plate as this will cover your cars plate.

Can you tow with it on?

Serious question....I appreciate the above comment is true....in reality do people get stopped by the Police if they don't have a number board ?

Nope

Rubbish copy of the MaxxRaxx then

Beware , I have this unit, although from Amazon, I have 2 x Giant adult bikes and neither will slide on to the holding bars as they are too wide and also the horizontal frame bar would not fit in anyway as it is too wide for it to locate in to the holding brackets. This clamps very well on to the tow bar and is easy to set up.

If you notice, it says width 15cm which is not the opened width

I have a Giant MTX, Voodoo Bantu and Carrera Subway that all fitted on. I mentioned the adjustable 'holders' and could utilise them to hold the Giant by the seatpost as it is a difficult frame to hold. As said by Supplyuk the holding bars a quite wide apart but as the holders are adjustable it did not give me a problem. Its £20 at the end of the day

No, it looks nothing like the single arm Maxx Raxx and is also £175 cheaper. Quite a few of the towball type carriers stop you actually towing with them when fitted. This suits me as my car had a towbar fitted when purchased, but I don't have a trailer.

worth a try at the price

Guess it all depends on the car and how the policeman is feeling. My Freelander has high lights and fairly high number plate which can be seen even when loaded with 3 bikes. If you cant see your plate or lights, then I would get a board.

Really?? Tell him thanks!!
If Tesco are selling this for £20 he cant be making much??

Hot! Had a cheaper version which worked really well, but needed some sponge around the poles to protect the bike frames! This is better and cheaper! Great deal, esp using tesco vouchers!

Maxx racx

Maxx raxx are very specialist.

Thule and buzzrack both do towball mounted racks. They are great and at least 5 or 6 times the price of this!

Great price!

Sorry to hear that, cant see why they cant store deliver though if they can home deliver. Even for £25 it's still a bargain.

Ordered it for £15.00 now....I got an email saying its back in stock as I entered my email address for stock alert and got an email from them!! Super Happy!!!

Sorry, I requested this was unexpired by mistake. It was reposted at £15 yesterday. Please expire (I can't submit another report to request this). Oops!

Hope these hold tightly onto the tow ball otherwise there will be bikes all over the motorways this summer oO

Personally, I prefer one that fixes to a plate mounted between the tow ball fitting and the towbar - much more secure in my opinion.

Also looks a bit flimsy to hold 3 full size bikes safely - what's the weight limit ?

I've ordered one, so will let you know how secure it fits.
As for max weight, I think it's 45kg.

It is capable of carrying 3 bicycles and has a weight capacity of 45kg.

Original Poster

Definitely carries 3 full size bikes securely, just make sure you strap them together so they dont clank against each other.

Why is it expired, I've just been on site and bought one for £15 with £3 delivery, also bought this one for my brothers car tesco.com/dir…el= for £18.50 only got charged £3 for delivery for both, then it told me I had £2.50 voucher so I got delivery for 50p.

Because the deal at the new price was posted yesterday HERE.
I inadvertently requested this deal to be unexpired a few hours ago, because I got confused (as mentioned in post #29 above).

No problem, I understand.

Came to fit this yesterday and it just wouldn't fit - the cycle carrier attachment seems fractionally too small so the horizontal locking bar won't shut as the ams won't go wide enough to allow it. A neighbour had some fancy measuring tool and our towbar is (if anything) fractionally smaller than 50mm, but the inside of the cups (which fit around the towbar ball) are a bit too small. Typically, I needed to use it last night and had already bought the necessary light board, etc. I ended up spending about an hour putting the roof bars on and attaching the fiddly old cycle carriers before getting the bikes mounted securely on the roof!
Just to round things off nicely, Tesco are out of stock at the moment so I'm unable to get a replacement - marvellous!! Has anyone else had problems with theirs not fitting?
