Blurb

A cross between a hammock and a swing seat, the VonHaus hanging chair beautifully combines style and comfort.

Constructed from durable 100% cotton fabric in nautical-inspired blue and white stripes, this highly-attractive outdoor swing seat can be easily attached to a sturdy support – such as a large overhanging tree branch – to provide hours of enjoyment in the summer months.

Built for comfort and made to last, the hanging chair incorporates a padded seat and back for added luxury and a strong overhead bar to evenly distribute the weight.

The swing seat is ideal for the garden or camping - not to mention lightweight and portable – so you can easily pack it up and take it wherever you want.

Seat Size: 130 X 95cm (Length X Width)
Weight Capacity: 120kg

Would either need a strong tree branch or a solid structure/frame. Also need to be easily removable to take indoors when it rains if not undercover!
Wonder if you can buy just the curved hanging frame you would normally find with these types off chair cheap enough? Unfortunately no handy tree sitting on the patio area!
That wooden bar gonna carry 120kg? I doubt that
Ordered
Now I need to find some space and way to hang it lol

You could pick up a couple of metres of accessory cord and a carabiner from somewhere like Go Outdoors for around £6. You just then need a tree or a sturdy pergola to hang it from.

Cheapest on ebay seems to be £62. Get a tree from Aldi or B & M for a couple of quid and wait for it to grow.

Seems a good deal and design is sensible. If you look at the construction the wooden bar will not be taking much bending load at all, the arrangement of the ropes means most of the load will be in compression, wood is excellent for that and I'd be surprised if this wasn't tested to and passed at least double the specified max weight.

As a Mechanical Engineer/Draughtsman with over 50 years experience in the trade I agree with furbar888 comment. If the ropes for the chair were in the middle of the wooden bar and not at the extreme ends close to the upper attachment rope as shown then yes the bar would not be strong enough to carry 120kgs.
PS :- Have just ordered one for my Garden.......it will be fixed to my wooden Pergola via a Heavy Duty Pig Tail Screw in Swing Hook and a suitable Heavy Duty Carabiner (I have a spare one from my Rock Climbing days)
Just ordered it and am ready to hang it up in the sun on my pergola

I was thinking of doing the same with mine (i have a carabiner from my potholing days). A question for you. Should i screw the pigtail screw into the side of one of the rafters? I'd be concerned about it taking all of my 12st if i screwed it into the underneath. Would an eye bolt right up through the rafter be safer?
Thanks op. Lovely item. Ordered and voted hot.
OOS again..?

As long as the rafter you have is a minimum of a 4"x 2" section (the 4" should be vertical) and the unsupported span of the rafter is a max of 4'-0" then I would rather screw the heavy duty pigtail to the underneath of the rafter to a min depth of 2" into the 4" x 2" (drill a small pilot hole first to guide the pigtail and to stop the wood splitting). This should be more than ample to support your weight of 12 stone. If you fitted an eye bolt then you would have to drill a hole right through the rafter which in my mind would weaken it. If you want a belt and braces solution then you could fix another 4" x 2" rafter to the side of the existing one with a gap wide enough to to pass the eye bolt through it and and then fix the eye bolt to the two rafters using 2 No 4" long x 2" wide x 6 mm thick steel plates with a hole in the middle for the eye bolt to pass through; position one plate at the top and one at the bottom of the two rafters then securely fix the eye bolt to the rafters using the supplied nuts with the eye bolt (ie :- 1 nut underneath the bottom plate and the second nut above the top plate). Hope this helps.
Has anybody received theirs yet ? I ordered and paid the extra for the faster delivery and have had nothing. It should have arrived yesterday but didn't and I haven't had any correspondence at all with expected delivery. Just wondering....

Your lucky you got a refund as I received mine today and when i opened the package and hung it on my Pergola it looked nothing like the photo. The photo showed that there was one big thick back cushion and one big thick seat cushion and both are sown in/part of the chair/hammock. What I received was a hammock with with two small loose cushions 380mm x 340mm x 100mm thick.........not what I expected. I feel conned and cheated and will send it back for a refund as soon as I can.
