Aqua Optima Water Filter Jug. Drinking filtered tap water is more economical than bottled water and has far less impact on the environment, as most water bottles are non-biodegrable. The Aqua Optima filter jug with its classic slim design will fit perfectly into the fridge door, providing cleaner, purer water for a fraction of the cost of bottled water. This fridge jug uses Aqua Optima's unique 5-step filter cartridge reducing herbicides, pesticides and chlorine by up to 80%, giving you better tasting hot and cold drinks. Argos and Robert Dyas sell them too. Quite often have deals on in Robert Dyas

I've been looking at buying one of these for ages as the water in our new house isn't very pleasant! Is this brand any better or worse than Brita? I only want to buy one of these once! Thanks

can anyone explain how you know when the filters need replacing? is there some kind of gauge or indication?

edit I see there is a dial that you can use to give yourself a reminder on which month it needs replacing. So I assume you just keep going until you feels its not filtering anymore I guess?

Argos do have one for £5 but it looks slightly different i.e. the handle.

not sure which is the newer or better model I am not sure for £5 between Amazon and Argos.

My girlfriend has told me that the same one at Argos she got for £3 at Home bargains in november and they are still selling them now, they have spare filters there too

the amazon one is 2.5 capacity the argos one is 2 litres - just seen

The filters do a certain volume of water so you can work it out by how often you refill it each day. They say they will last 60 days with average usage so I just set it to replace every 2 months (using the dial on the top as a reminder).

Just a tip I have the one in the Amazon picture above and the insert that holds the filter fits in the jug both ways but the lid only closes with it a certain way round. There are reports of people getting this wrong and breaking the lid as they try and force it on...

I live in a very hard water area and this is good for getting rid of the lime scale in your tea. I find it also makes you only boil as much water as you need.

nice find
