Looking at getting some bike wheels that are a bit more bombproof. RRP £150 but about £100. These are well reviewed.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I have RC10 (only a year old) but a spoke brakes every couple hundred miles or so now so looking at something that will last a good 10k miles or so.

I have read that the more spokes the stronger (these have 28), but more weight (2.1kg). Obviously not looking for a race wheel at 1kg but something 2kg and under would be great.

A guy at work who tours everywhere uses Miche Excite wiggle.co.uk/mic…et/ - any knowledge of these? They have 26 spokes and are also £100 for the set.

thanks

The heavier you are, the more spokes you may need. You can get wheels with 28 at the front and 32 at the rear, and they still weigh less than these. However, aerodynamics have a greater impact on your speed than weight. These seem good wheels for the price.

just to clarify they are actually 1750g for the pair (875g each) which actually is pretty light!
I'm 68kg but will be touring on these on my multi-purpose bike (add 15kg)

Looks pretty decent. If the claimed weight is accurate they offer great weight to price ratio. Construction seems sensible so should be durable and easy to maintain
I use Shimano RS11 for my daily commute and Kinetic k1 42 for dry rides. Both are good for heavy riders. I used Mavic Aksium for a while but kept popping spokes.

Shame they don’t have a disc version for that price for us Cyclocross guys.
Thank you
