Last couple of visits to my Morrisons store they've started selling these on the Flour aisle, It is broken down from the larger bags of flour at the bakery section. Good value at 60p and great to be able to make home made bread again in the dutch oven. Seen it mentioned in national newspaper articles so should be widely available, when in stock

Has anyone been able to get any fresh yeast from supermarket's in store bakers? I know Asda used to sell it if you asked, but I'm assuming they'd get swamped with requests now!

Morrisons had 50g packets of yeast from their bakery also alongside the flour for 20p. I didn't need any, so can't provide a photo, but they were definitely there

If you need more flour, they were doing the large 16kg bags from the bakery for £9 and according to articles they do wholemeal flour in 1 and 16kg sizes as well, but didn't see any wholemeal on my visit in my store

So.. Are you saying that if I go up to the bakery counter, I’d be able to get some?

My Mrs has been making our bread since lockdown. She made some rolls this week, and they tasted like beer. Not sure how she managed it!

Not bad if you're desperate, but pretty expensive. £9 for 500g when Allinson's 125g tubs are normally only £1 at Asda

If you live in birmingham, sign up for jj food service online and you could order 16kg for £8. It is pizza flour. I think it's the same thing.

It's not just Birmingham it's a national chain. I had a shopping delivery of groceries from them for the first time last week and it was next day delivery. I was quite impressed and will definitely use them again. I think it was someone on here that recommended them.
I bought a 16 kg bag of strong Canadian flour from Kent foods. It's very good. And I recommend Saf Levure yeast if you can find it!!
I always buy a bag of strong flour, it always helps when I can't handle carrying all the bags.
Disappointingly not available online for those of us self isolating.

Managed to grab some last Friday, wasn’t aware it was national - but good on them, it’s the only thing I’ve been struggling to find for the past few weeks

I can confirm that they're still doing flour in the in store bakery for 60p a kilo for their bread flour and they'll give you 2oz of fresh yeast. Just remember, they don't have to do this, so be friendly and polite

got the same at Asda the other day, packed in doughnuts packages, also 60p per kg. I was there today in the morning too (Asda Dunfermline) and there were loads on the shelf, worth a try in your local I have been unlucky enough not to find any for like a month or so, so was really happy to get some, should have posted as a deal lol

From a non baking person. What's the difference between this and plain and self raising flour.
Can this be used to bake cake's.
Great deal

Follow the recipe if it says plain or self-raising use that. Self-raising flour has a raising agent added (i.e Baking powder). Bread flour has more protein and results in a higher gluten content which is better for making bread.

Ive been buying these over the last couple of weeks, and made a sourdough starter from scratch instead of using yeast.

The flour is great, the only thing wrong with my bread is my awful baking skills.
