Found 1st Aug 2012
Having popped into my local Prenton Sainsburys there was a number of half price offers on Strongbow eg,

20x440 ml cans £8.50
6x330ml bottles £2.75

Dont drink it myself but may be off interest to others

Update: National Deal likely due to stock clearance, therefore suggest limited availability at some stores. Plenty of stock left locally but bound to go quickly.

Could be. The ones from Sainsburys are the old style design on the can and are marked at 5.3% but I also have the new style can design which is marked at 5%. Didn't notice till your post pointed that out.

A beer and cider range review is taking place in Sainsbury's, due to land in store by Sunday 5th. Many new lines and many discontinued ones like this so look out for many more reduced to clear beer and cider products..

Is the new Strongbow Pear included in this deal? Anyone tried it yet?

anyone know if they are still doing the 20 x Becks for £10 deal at Sainsburys? Specifically the Bridgend branch

Still 17 pounds in Swindon

There is a new design on Strongbow cans so I'm guessing Sainsburys are getting rid of the old design with this sale

I think they have dropped the strength of Strongbow with the new can design also, bought some yesterday and it is now only 5.0%
I'm sure it used to be more (around 5.4%)

Oh no... Another drink with reduced alchohol like all the 5.0 beers going to 4.8. Strongbow was 5.3%

I've said it before on here but nobody seems interested.

Strongbow is NOT cider.

It contains cider, sure, but because it also contains sugar and sweeteners (i.e. Aspartame - which does not require labelling in alcoholic drinks) it ain't cider. Nowhere on its packaging does it say it is cider. You want to ingest a chemical which is widely believed to cause for 90+ medical conditions including diabetes, epilepsy, fibromyalgia brain cancer etc., please go right ahead but I think people should make an informed choice before they rot their brains on bargain booze.

Then again, if people are focussed on getting blind drunk as cheaply as possible, their brains are probably already pretty well rotted.

Really? Google seems to be lying:

Yep, and so do supermarkets when they put their own signs up.

If you don't believe me, check out the legal definition of cider and then check out the packaging. It does not say that it is cider, it says that it contains cider.

If you bought a bottle of milk and it had a list of ingredients which said, 'contains milk and other crap', would you still drink it thinking it was milk?

Well, given that you are probably drinking Strongbow with its added neurotoxins, I wouldn't be surprised.

Like I said, I don't care what anybody drinks or eats but I do believe that people should make informed decisions and there is no public health warning on this crap like there is on cigarettes.

By the way, Wikipedia describes it as a dry cider, if that is the case, why does it contain sugar and sweeteners as even Wikipedia mentions.

Anyway, if you like poisoning yourselm, PM me your address and I'll send you some Agent Orange which was brought to us by the same nice people who gave us Aspartame. But please, please be aware that despite its name, Agent Orange does not actually contain any oranges.

Well Strongbow isn't "proper" cider in the sense that it's not made purely from fermented apple juice like farmhouse scrumpy but as far as the average punter is concerned it's cider .

As for the nonsense about aspartame, I'm afraid you're been taklen in my a myth. It's never been proved to be harmful to the vast majority of people.

As for the deal, good if national, pointless if only available in the OP's nearest store.

Whilst you are entirely correct, this is not the forum for preaching, it's a bargain forum. And to people who like Strongbow, this deal is a bargain.

You're looking for the overwrought fopp forums where people who drink wheatgrass juice and eat seeds for dinner will be only too pleased to massage your superiority complex in their haste to agree with you.

You sir need to chill out and stop acting so high and mighty. Just because some people enjoy getting drunk and you don't it doesn't mean you're better than them. If fact, I bet we have a lot more fun then you do. And you're right, we're not interested, so take a hint and go someplace else.

As I was reading that, I got to "so take a hint and go..." and thought the next two words were going to be much ruder than they actually were

And I completely agree btw! Stop being a snob! It's called cider! I don't care what the real definition of cider is, this is still classed as cider by everyone except idiots like you!
