First post: This is a STUDENTS ONLY deal, and you'll need proof such as an email of an unconditional offer, but you get THREE YEARS WARRANTY and 12 MONTHS PHONE SUPPORT plus the headphones, which seem to be commonly around £94.95 online.
I know it shows it as £798 on the link, that is an online price. Phone for it at your local store, and next day delivery is free and they upgrade the warranty to 3 years and do it for £729.
Yes it's Apple, yes i know some of you think laptops are better etc, but for THIS model and warranty, and the headphones, this seems like a good deal to me.

I often wonder how many students buy a mac just to show off having a macbook vs having a reason for owning a mac (of which there are quite a few) Point of note is you used to only get the 3 years if you bought directly from Apple website or phone, to from store...not sure is that is still case but was 2 years ago.

this or an XPS 13? I'm going to get either one, have been a windows user for decades, though I've used Macs at work and enjoy them. they're the same price as a dell XPS from what I can see and besides the OS... don't really see much difference? Could someone elaborate?

If you already have windows PCs at home and no other apple products then get the dell. If you have an iPhone or anything else apple then get a MacBook. If you have nothing then get a MacBook.

Also, I'm fairly confident that if you had to sell after three years, you would probably get more for the MacBook.

you may be able to use the £50 off £500 spend with an Amex card ?

thanks that's what I was thinking. I couldn't really split them apart. I think I'd be happy in getting a Macbook. I don't really like my windows 10 laptop. You really need a touch screen laptop or tablet for it to be really worth it. it's just 8.1 with an annoying search function.

Would love an xps13 but they seem to come in a lot more expensive than a Macbook but would love to be proven wrong. Am in the market for a new laptop but torn between platforms & models...

exactly my issue. I have handled the Macbook retina display and have seen the 8+ hours battery life in action. have to say once you see and feel it, and see how fast it actually is, even if you're a long time windows user (like me), it's very easy to convert. I think I may divulge!

Its really down to your needs.

I have last years XPS 15 9530 with high res touchscreen. You rarely if ever use the touchscreen and you don't put it into the super 3800x1920 or whatever as everything is too small. Windows still isn't ready for high res touchscreens.

My wife has a Macbook Air which is amazing for her needs ... but its 128Gb SSD. Unless you're only gonna just use 1 or 2 apps, you could quickly run out of space. I have it dual booting with Windows but I'm gonna have to remove one or the other as its starting to complain.

with the level of cloud storage I have, and expandable memory, I would only use core programmes. I rarely use my laptop for anything other than word processing. I use my phone for everything else! I'd like the ability to word process without being tethered to my desk and lugging around 3 kg.

Apple AND Beats in the same deal?! You're brave!

I need to use final cut pro anyway + I'm getting a black skin to cover the whole top

The HP Spectre x360 is another good option to compare with the Macbook Pro Retina and the XPS 13...I looked VERY closely at all 3 and even though i could get a decent discount on the HP (I work for them) I still went for the Macbook in the end...
I used the Student discount option and got the 3yr Applecare warranty.
I would advise going for the next model up though with 256Gb SSD as it is a PCIE SSD and not upgradeable...

Sorry I'm confused...
Who do you ring to get this price? Your nearest Apple Store and place an order with them for the MacBook or do you call Apple customer services and ask for this price?

This a repost of a repost of a repost. You can still actually get it as a non student with the /uk_ uni code. It sometimes redirects you to a "page not found" but I seem to be still be able to get in, so have saved a MBP 15 in one of my bags

You login to the NUS website and use the link on there to access the Apple Higher Education Store.

So do u need a nus card to get this deal? I'm really confused.. Who is it that you actually need to call?
